Removing pulseaudio affects startup / shutdown in Intrepid
I use Intrepid Studio, and have all updates as of today (29-Oct).
As of a few days ago, my distro does not shut down or start cleanly. It is because I have removed pulseaudio.
The same thing happens on shutdown when I have pulseaudio stopped with pactl exit.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what is the workaround when using wine?
pasuspender wine application.exe ??
Thanks.

Speaking conservatively, I would de-rate that number by 50%, or in other words:
0.5*283000/5000=28.3 kb/sec.
This to account for various overheads

output of a certain application
(lets say chrome browser) from one output (speakers) to another (usb

how to make pacmd do it.. any ideas?

No sound in World of Warcraft - intermittant.
At first I thought it was due to running Mangler simultaneously, but recently we've had no sound in World of Warcraft.
One night when I was setting up to raid that night, I started WoW, and sound worked fine. I then quit WoW, started Mangler, started WoW, had sound in the first but not the second. When WoW started this dialogue box popped up saying that a change in hardware had been detected

Resample and Relay Using Icecast2
Hi Robert,
Icecast itself doesn't do any resampling of audio streams it receives.
One would likely craft a solution that listens to the original stream
and re-encodes on the fly, providing those alternate bitrate streams
back to Icecast. I've heard people doing this with liquidsoap and other
source clients, and a bit of server-side magic.
Some quick Googling provided me with this link

Cool Mic (Android vorbis live source client) beta available
Thank you all so far for the feedback. I've forwarded this to my dev
team, right now they are working on improvements based on what I've
received so far. I'll keep list updated on progress and new versions if
that doesn't seem to spammy. My goal is for Cool Mic to be the most
stable and functional (and open source!) Android source client for
Icecast that supports open codecs.

Storing and restoring sound settings
Hello,
I have made a bootable CD (with revisor) of CentOS 6.
The CD boots and starts a game automatically (for an exhibition).
I have one problem: The default sound settings are not correct.
After the machine is booted, I have to open gnome-volume-control,
select "Hardware", and select "Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output" under
"Profile".
How can I set this up

Cool Mic
I've been directing the development for a new Icecast 2.x source client
for Android called "Cool Mic". It's designed to be simple and elegant
with an easy to use interface. It uses the device's microphone to
broadcast live audio in Ogg Vorbis format.
It's come to the point in development where I'd like to ask for anyone
interested in helping give feedback. All core

Cool Mic
Hi unosonic,
Cool Mic's primary advantage to other source clients out there is that
it streams in the patent-free, high quality Ogg Vorbis format
(BroadcastMyself only supports MP3). We will be adding opus support in
the future as well.
Re: Feature requests: Re-connect sounds like the next feature that will
be added :) Thank you. I am fairly certain you can already use a wired

Apps slow down after several minutes
A problem I have with most applications I've tried is after several minutes, they will slow down to a crawl, becoming unusable. The program I'm mainly interested in is Painkiller (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/painkiller/index.html). It runs beautifully at first, and I can usually get through a level, but after that, it slows down or even stops. Is this an issue in Wine or could this

Looking for some advice to two problems I'm having
Hi guys.
I have two questions about my streaming setup and I was wondering if
any of you could offer some advice.
I'm using IceS 0.4 as my source. It's reading a text file that
contains the paths to about 300 different files that I want it to
randomly play. For some reason though, it seems to only play a few of
those files on a loop. I guess it could be in my head, but it seems

Re: pulseaudio under ubuntu lucid
Update on this topic.
I have just bought a new computer (My previous one was 8 years old and showing its age) and I tried timidity instead of fluidsynth.
Midi playback works fine on both the midi player and notation processor in Wine with Pulse Audio enabled.
