icecast, ssl, windows environment
Hello everyone.
Thanks a lot! I got it working.
Frankly speaking I had already tested the setup proposed, but I made two
mistakes, first i tried to setup the port 443 and it was stupid as this
port is already used by web service https.
Second mistake was the .pem file that probably was wrongly concatenated and
was not recognized/loaded by icecast.
However I confirm that in most places on

No sound on any stream.
I have 2 icecast servers and neither will play music, 1 gentoo, the other
ubuntu when connect to a mount and trying to broadcast via mixxx using both
mp3 or ogg. Both will establish a stream feed but appears to have no sound.
One of them won't even stream a ices2 mounted song either (same symptom,
connect but no actual play occurs). Error logs are clean too, firewall is
turned off on both

To me, this is DNS and routing. Have laptops use a VPN to Sec2 whenever in
Unsecure 2, and make sure that Sec1 is also routable through

Laptops unable to access Windows SMB share
Long-time Samba user. Love it!
I have a dozen or so computers accessing several file (SMB) shares. All but two are in fixed locations. Some of those have fixed IPs, the rest DHCP IPs but they don't move between subnets. The last two, both laptops, are the problem. They move back and forth between two subnets.
Specifically:
There are three relevant subnets. I'll call them Secure 1,

putting stuff into bins...
Hi All,
I have a vector of data, a vector of bin breakpoints and I want to put my data
in the bins and then extract fanciful informations like the mean value of each bin.
I know I can write my own function, but I would have thought that R should have
somewhere a function that took as arguments something like (data, breaks, what
to do with the data in the bins). I surey could not find it

Rd.sty problems.
Hi All,
I am trying to build a new R package to submit, but it's failing to
create a tex manual:
R CMD check Biodem
* checking for working latex ... OK
* using log directory
'/home/greatsage/Fede/R-packages/temp/Biodem.Rcheck'
* checking for file 'Biodem/DESCRIPTION' ... OK
* checking if this is a source package ... OK
* Installing *source* package 'Biodem' ...

No sound on any stream.
I figured out half the issue.
Icecast appears to be transmitting on port 8000 just fine. The more I dig,
the more I realize icecast is fine.
Browser vlc seems to be broke. Direct connect via VLC standalone to ->
http://66.228.49.182:8000/66.228.49.182.ogg.m3u works perfect.

I break there.
Thank you!

Config and other areas of struggle
Confused me for ages.. until one day!
Which out of the listed machines (on the router) is the one you are needing the port forwarded to?
Forward that machine to the port you require, I would have used a lower port number 8010 or another unused port.

Disable unsecure POP3 at all (Dovecot 2.1)
Hi to all.
Is it possible to disable unsecure POP3 protocol at all in Dovecot 2.1?
There was "protocols" option in 1.x version, and there was separate pop3 and pop3s modules.
There is no "pop3s" in configuration files in 2.1.

Making a new package: licence
HI All,
I have written and succesfully uploaded a new package. The licence it is under is 'GPL' --no version. My assumption is, since all the code is written in R the licence R used for R would affect the code (hence my "GPL" stands for "whatever version of the GPL R is under")
I am happy with the licencing I used, but I'd like to ask if there is any transitive

removing message: [Previously saved workspace restored]
Dear All,
I saved by mistake the environment I was working in after typing q(),
and now I get the annoying message:
[Previously saved workspace restored]
I have already deleted all the objects in the environment, saving it as
an empty environment, so it's just a matter of nitpicking I suppose. The
message does not appear if I start R from any other place in the
directory tree.
