In windows explorer please right click on the mapped drive, select Properties, click on Customize tab and make sure that option "Optimize this folder for:" is set to "General Items", otherwise select it, check "Also apply this template to all subfolders" and click Apply. Slow file listing : Debian Wheezy, Samba Version 3.6.6
Hi, I manage quite a few boxes that are identical in OS and Samba version. (Debian Wheezy, Samba version 3.6.6) I have one box, where each time you open windows explorer and click on the mapped network share, a line moves across the top of explorer and it takes around 30-40 seconds to display the directory listing. Once it has done this once, it is quick thereafter, until you close explorer

Slow file listing : Debian Wheezy, Samba Version 3.6.6
Hi, I have come across something similar. We had a large directory (several 10s of thousand files) stored on a large Linux box which was migrated to a faster, but smaller memory (256 GiB -> 12 GiB) box. The Windows users recorded unacceptable access times and ultimately we had to: 1) Break the large directory into several smaller ones, and 2) Move to a larger memory (128 Gib) machine.

Thought this was fixed and now it's back. No help from rawlog as the hang appears prior to authentication. Notice there is around a 90 second delay before authentication fires. Let me know how to proceed debugging. Thanks. _____ Here's my config: listen: *:143 ssl_listen: *:993 ssl_cipher_list: ALL:!LOW:!SSLv2 disable_plaintext_auth: no verbose_ssl: yes login_dir:

ftp.freebsd.org out of date? (WRT security advisories)
It seems (at least for me) the patches on ftp.freebsd.org are out of date for the 03:12 security advisory (openssh). ftp2.freebsd.org has them fine. I'm wondering if this is a mirror issue or perhaps round-robin DNS problem? What compounds the issue is that right now the old openssh 3.7 patches are there (on ftp.freebsd.org), but not the 3.7.1 patches (which can be found on

Add independent interface from domU to internal bridge?
Hi, I have what I believe is an elementary problem, but I haven''t yet figured out the solution. Within my domU host, I have a bridge named "net1". There is no routing performed between the real LAN and this bridge, intentionally. I have a virtual machine that connects to the bridge. It seems to work fine, (in fact I have several and I can bring them all up and they can

Sorry - the tcpdump command should end with "192.168.1.1" instead of
