IceCast and ICES
I?ve successfully implemented IceCast on a Raspberry Pi and can access the stream ONLY if I use an ffmpeg statement to start the stream. Unfortunately, the stream is choppy and the sound quality is poor. I?ve tried using ICES, but I don?t get any sound.
Terminal command that works:
ffmpeg -ac 2 -f alsa -i hw:0,0 -acodec mp3 -ab 48k -ac 2 -content_type audio/mpeg -f mp3 icecast://source:password

I haven’t had any luck with that. It works to an iMac running the Chrome browser, but I’m not getting through to the iPhone with either Safari or Chrome.

Ices2 doesn't do MP3.
You might want to use darkice or liquidsoap instead.

Default ACL inheritance question
A bit of a minor off-topic issue, but on the off-chance that someone
understands how ACLs work ...
I've been trying to see if using default ACLs would help with the
following issue:
I have a third party application that is running as a non-root user
('user-a') and creating log files with mode 0600 (read/write only to the
owner) in a log directory
I have another application that

New issue, configuring 2 Vista nodes
Hello All,
I am trying to configure 2 Vista nodes. For testing, I put them both on the
same LAN & subnet, and after figuring out that Vista puts the RSA_Key
private File & the Hosts files in a different directory {
\USERS\username\APPDATA\LOCAL\VIRTUALSTORE\PROGRAM FILES\TINC\ (+hosts\) },
I managed to bring up the daemons on both nodes. (I suspect that Windows 7
uses another directory

Metalog and Shorewall
Hi Tom and list,
Still trying to set up Shorewall logging. I understand that Shorewall require syslog to get logging working, however I have metalog. Is this
possible to use metalog as logging facility for Shorewall? I was reading
http://www.shorewall.net/shorewall_logging.html and it describes other
method ( ULOG ). I understand that I have to compile ULOG support in the
kernel... where do I

samba on NetBSD - some patches
Hi,
We (NetBSD) just received a bug report that smbclient's mput command usees
find(1) with a non-standard option "-maxdepth". This was replaced with a
simple call to ls(1). As I don't know how many of the patches from out
Packages Collection were sent to you in the past, I'm simply sending you
all our patches - please include any you like in future samba releases!

icecast2 can not log
Hello,
I'm trying to setup icecast2 and darkice on a FreeBSD test system prior
to putting it in to production use. I've downloaded and installed the ports
for both without a problem, created directories logs and conf within the
icecast root which is /usr/local/share/icecast, and created an icecast user.
Then i edited /usr/local/share/icecast/conf/icecast.xml, the relevant
entries are:

mrtg 2.16.2 ipv6 on centos 6
Hi,
i'm running CentOS 6.0 on my server and installed mrtg from the
rpm-package mrtg-2.16.2 .
I also installed the depending packages perl-IO-Socket-INET6
perl-Socket6 ....
mrtg works fine with IPV4-Addresses. When i specify a Target by
IPV6-Address (or hostname resolving to a V6-address) mrtg fails.
Here i have a small sample-config for V4 which is working:
LogDir: /tmp
ThreshDir: /tmp

No sound on any stream.
I have 2 icecast servers and neither will play music, 1 gentoo, the other
ubuntu when connect to a mount and trying to broadcast via mixxx using both
mp3 or ogg. Both will establish a stream feed but appears to have no sound.
One of them won't even stream a ices2 mounted song either (same symptom,
connect but no actual play occurs). Error logs are clean too, firewall is
turned off on both

Hi all,
I'm trying to backup a disk using rsync but I need to exclude some folder.
I'm using rsync 3.0.4 under cygwin on a winxp machine.
The script that I use is:

BCKDIR=/cygdrive/f/Backup
rsync -auv --progress --delete --delete-excluded --log-file=$LOGDIR/`date

Problem syncing custom fact
I am trying to get a custom fact to sync. The fact is in a module. It
will sync if I run puppet with "--pluginsync" but not otherwise. I
have "pluginsync=true" in my puppet.conf. Shouldn''t the command line
option and puppet.conf option have the same results?

certificate issue with Branch Testing
Hello All,
I''m using the "Branch Testing" approach documented at
https://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/BranchTesting and am seeing
an issue with certificates.
On all clients, I can run puppetd --masterport=8141 successfully but see
the following error when I run against the default (8140) port:
