players who cannot handle switching to a fallback mount point?
Hi,
We use Icecast version 2.4.4 and use mountpoint /main and include use
fallback-mount.
When the /main is offline 92% of the listeners go to fallback-mount and
8% disconnect.
The format is 96k AAC and we have 8 mountpoint and 8 fallback-mount
points include extra fallback files AAC.
Are there any players who cannot handle switching to a fallback mount
point?
Best regards,
Michel

Load balancing Icecast - aggregated logs
I built a system for handling all the data, songs, listeners, royalties,
etc. It's all in the docs.

Tracking Listeners with Key and other parameters
I have an app that I've built that leverages the auth functionality of
icecast2 to track when listeners are added to the stream and monitor
what they listen to.
I've ran in to an issue where if a listener disconnects for a few
seconds then reconnects, I track them as a new user.
I can't track by ip cause there may be a few people listening from the
same public ip.
In the docs I

Sounds very interesting, Alex. AWS Route 53 is new to mw.
And how do you you aggregate listener stats from your server cluster?

OPUS/FLAC Metadata
Marvin,
That is the current version being used and it still has no meta data.
server_id Icecast 2.4.99.1
Testing the metadata from the admin page “Update Metadata” results in the response:
Message: Mountpoint will not accept URL updates
Return Code: 1
So I would guess it isn’t functioning yet.

Higher quality narrowband streaming options
Hi,
Up until now, I've been providing narrowband streams at 24kbps MP3. We've
reluctantly been using MP3 instead of say Ogg Vorbis due to wider
support.
But it's getting to the point where low bitrate MP3 doesn't really cut it
anymore. With technologies like AACPlus out there in common usage, people
have come to expect better and one can hardly blame them.
So I thought

Linux source-client that can push AAC to icecast2?
Hi all, I set up ezstream to read a playlist.m3u file containing only MP3 encoded songs (to shuffle continuously) and push this to icecast2. This works, and I can also reencode to a lower bitrate.
I would like to know if there is a way to reencode these MP3s into AAC-LC 128kpbs and then push the stream to icecast2. I'm doing this on a VM with only terminal access and no audio hardware, so

Refresh streams without relaunching icecast.
How do you refresh a stream without relaunching, we would like to add new
mp3 into a root folder using m3u. We get that the m3u needs to be updated
but cant figure out how to use "
http://172.31.145.234:8000/admin/updatemetadata.xsl?mount=/stream"
For example the file would be: thisband - greatsong.mp3

Streaming AAC with libshout?
Hi Greg,

An alternative explanation might be that open source developers were not
particularly motivated to work on improving AAC encoders, because of
difficulties experienced when trying to distribute patent-encumbered code.

Selecting conditionally from HABTM
Hello,
I was wondering whether there is a nice Rubyesque way of selecting
from a pair of HABTM models where one of them is inherited from
another object.
Here is the situation:
I have a ''posts'' table from which ''replies'' and ''articles'' are
inherited. Articles have_and_belong_to_many categories, but neither
posts nor replies do (it just does

dir.xiph.org : OPUS stream wrongly identified as Vorbis
Hello,
We started to publish an OPUS stream amongst others on our Icecast
streaming server. That's cool, we're muxing it in an Ogg container, it
works well !
So this is just a remark : as the Icecast shows its type as
"application/ogg", it may be the reason why the Icecast directory shows
this as an Ogg Vorbis stream although it's an Ogg OPUS one.
Any idea how to correct

Opus vs AAC (endurance test)
using iTunes i've noticed that AAC is
very good at re-encoding own lossy sound.
let's test Opus!
neroaacenc.exe -q 0.75 -if 000.wav -of 001.m4a
neroaacdec.exe -if 001.m4a -of aac001.wav
wavdiff.exe 000.wav aac001.wav
Comparing 000.wav - aac001.wav...
Max diff: -17.3867dB
RMS diff: -33.0851dB
Mean diff: -32.4582dB
opusenc.exe --bitrate 512 "000.wav" 001.opus
opusdec.exe 001.opus

FREE AAC/aacPlus Plugin for WMP Supports Icecast2
A FREE AAC/aacPlus Plugin for Microsoft Windows Media Player that
fully supports the Icecast2 Server is available for download here:
http://www.orban.com/plugin
FYI:
This plugin supports .asx for Windows Media Player NOT .pls or .m3u.
Also streams can be opened directly by using newly created UIL
redirectors, e.g., icyx:// instead of http:// and rtpx:// instead of
rtsp://. This is all covered

OggFLAC metadata support
Hello,
I'm currently using Liquidsoap to stream a group of files to Icecast.
The stream is sent to Icecast in a few different formats (MP3,HE-AAC
v2,OggFlac,OggOpus).
The "Current Song" metadata is correctly displayed for the MP3 and the AAC
stream, but not the OggFLAC or OggOpus stream.
I see a few entries in the Icecast forums, but it does look like FLAC
metadata support never
