IceCast 2.3.x v. 2.4.x connections? Difference?
Hi there,
Icecast 2.4 introduced the « PUT » HTTP method for sources, which is not supported by Icecast 2.3 (that uses the legacy « SOURCE » method).
This may explain why your piece of software works with Icecast 2.4 but not with 2.3.
You should find relevant lines regarding this issue in your Icecast 2.3 logfiles.

IceCast 2.3.x v. 2.4.x connections? Difference?
Hi, thanks for reply back to me, it was my mistake I used the same number:8000 at the listening port to remote that computer. I changed the number at the listening port, now I am back on. Best regards, Miguel Jean

I am new to the list and Icecast, a web developer and I support a local
non-profit radio station who recently lost their engineer handling
stream recordings using Icecast/Darkice. All has been fine and I have
now a bit of experience with doing the recent schedule changes, only
updated cron jobs, but familiarized myself with streamripper being used
for recordings. I do manage the ruby scripts

Thanks for the ezstream tip. The good thing for me is that it looks like

ezstream is only for streaming files and playlists. Not live audio.
Darkice (ogg and mp3), ices2 (ogg only), or liveice (I think mp3 only,
but never used it) are better choices for doing live audio. ezstream is
designed to be really simple, so it surprises me that re-encoding was
included in it at all. ezstream can only stream one source to one
icecast server/mountpoint. To my knowledge the

What's best practice for serving multiple formats from a remote icecast server?
We are running an icecast2 server in conjunction with our LPFM radio
station and need a little advice.
We have been serving a single 128k ogg stream from a remote server and
would like to make additional formats available (e.g. mp3, lower
bandwidth, etc.)
I would think this has been done a few thousand times and there would be
a "best practice" but I can't find it.

So how would that would work?
I guess I could use Darkice to broadcast the stream to a new mountpoint, and
then use winamp, xmms or streamripper on another PC to attach to that mount
point and save the stream to a file - kludgy but would work. I realize I
could use something like waverc, but that would chew up significant disk
space as I need to capture this audio (approx 2-3 hrs) at 128K VBR.

Nicecast is really nice but I don't like spending $$$ when perfectly suitable
stuff is free. LadioCast if you want to go GUI, or grab ezstream from MacPorts
and run it under the hood. The latter is what I prefer. I use a mix of icecast2,
ezstream, and streamripper run off of at jobs.

hi everybody. I am involved in a Internet Radio Station in Bristol UK.
We are using a icecast 2 server and are trying to work out what to use
to upstream.
Currently we are using darkice which seems to work well. However it
does not support playlists.
I have looked at muse-streamer but it is currently far to unstable.
Therefore ices or ezstream seem to be the option. From what I can
gather

Error Syncing to MPEG
I am trying to relay a streamtuner Live365 stream across a ssh tunnel to
a remote XP pc, where I would pick it up using winamp.
I have a similar setup with a non-live365 stream routed using
streamripper to port 9001 and this plays correctly in winamp
For my Live365 stream, I have a RealVNC root session that is streaming
the Live365 broadcast from streamtuner (using XMMS). I can see XMMS
playing

Can i relay a udp://@<multicast-address>:<port> stream using Icecast2?
Hello to all,
I am a newbie to Icecat2. I already know how to use darkice as a source
but I can't find any information on how to relay a udp multicast stream
like "udp://239.192.0.145:5000 for" example. Can icecast2 stream this
directly or do I need to use some source client?

DarkIce not at the moment, though as of 0.8 you can save all what is
sent to the server in a local file.
