both ssl and non-ssl stream on the same socket
I guess icecast has to be rewritten to support STARTTLS in that case,
but I guess this is a limitation in the HTTP protocol.
But what you can do is use port redirection if you know that certain
sources or clients will connect over SSL and then redirect them to the
other port based on their source ip..? I don't know if that could be an
option?

disconnected mount point listed in the status page
Hi!
This days I switched from icecast 2.3.2 to the latest icecast kh from
the github (build 30-gfe06a77). But the problem I'm speaking about
didn't solve.
After a source disconnects the mount point remains listed in the status
page with only these entries:
Mount Point /stream

maximum file descriptor limit - icecast freeze
Hi!
A week ago I had a blocked icecast server because of the open files. I
read some posts about the 1024 fd limit but this is not the case. My
stations rarely has 300 listeners. From the log I can see that around
3PM I had 7 listeners on a mount and 35 on another one. Then, suddenly
the only line written to the log is

Video Streaming an ip mjpeg camera
Hi!
Just searched the icecast forum but didn't find anything, so I'll ask you.
Do you know of a streaming server to take as input a mjpeg stream from
an ip camera and transcode it to ogg[vorbis] and handle it to icecast?
Please don't mention vlc. Already tried and every 10 sec it freezes and
buffers. Just playing the camera in vlc works fine, but not transcoding
and connecting

Chrome not allowing mixed content anymore
Hi.
With its 80th version, Chrome stopped serving non-secure resources on https
pages. This affected the icecast server I run also. I enabled SSL, the
issue with Chrome not playing audio got fixed, but I noticed a major drop
in the number of listeners. As far as I figured out, the listeners that
have the http url in a playlist - listening in winamp, vlc etc. - could
listen no more. Those using

Blocking IP addresses on a per mountpoint level
Thanks.
Indeed - but is it it possible to block IP addresses on a per mountpoint
level? For example, my user with /mountpointA.ogg does not mind being
hammered by connections from 93.184.216.34 [example.com] but my user with
/mountpointB.ogg wants to block that IP address.
Using iptables I've blocked connections, at a server level, from example.com
for my User B but my User A doesn't

404 - The file you requested could not be found
I think this is related:
[2024-01-11? 13:55:43] WARN fserve/fserve_client_create req for file
"/usr/local/share/icecast/web/index.html" Permission denied
It also seems like you have built icecast from source? Are you sure that
you have installed it correctly? Maybe you've built it as root and then
only made the files readable by root, but icecast is running as the

Marius,
Yes, I think you nailed it. I built it from source and I did as root. And yes I am able to get audio at http://hostname:8000/voice. So now I know what the problem is but not sure how to fix it. A clean install? I kinda messed with the file permissions in the web directory shown below but that didn't solve my problem.

A quick Google search indicates that it might be a Proxmox limitation:

This is a real problem that needs to be addressed.
Anyone has figured a way to mitigate this?

Hi Zsolt,
looking at the metrics from Proxmox it doesn't look like anything breaks
there. What about at the operating system level? Could there be some
limits there? Have you checked corresponding kernel or system logs?
Which OS/distribution are you using? Checked the logs there? If nothing
screams there, maybe start looking at a load balancer and scale with
several more VMs?

Identify listeners on log reports
Hi Marius,
thanks for your reply.
URL auth via usern/pass seems what I need.
I fail to understand is if and how would that reflect on logs.
Care to elaborate further?
Thank you

That 100% depends on what you're trying to access. Try accessing the /admin/ endpoint and see what you have set up there. You also need to specify a relay-stub in the xml configuration, see:?https://icecast.org/docs/icecast-2.4.1/relaying.html--MariusSendt fra min Galaxy

Hmmm .. so not sure I understand what you mean by that. SO basically what I am trying to do is go to http://hostname:8000/. I have attached the error log as well.
Thanks

multiple wrr as child of htb
Hi all,
Here''s the situation.
I have 80 users sharing a internet link of 5Mb link.
The users are grouped in /29 ip addr classes so I have 10 classes of users
I want to create a root htb, then 10 htb childs each with 0.5Mb
bandwidth. The traffic will be directed to each class using tc filters.
Now, I want that each of 8 users from each class to share equally the
class bandwidth. Can I

Identify listeners on log reports
We have businesses users listening to 17 different icecast streams.
We're looking for a way to identify via icecast logs what each user is
listening.
At the moment in order to do so, we're cloning the streams for each user,
so that separate logs are generated.
As the number of user grow, this approach is becoming unsustainable.
Is there an alternative, more lean way to do this?
Thanks

init.d script for kh-branch
Hi!
The kh-branch icecast make install doesn't install the init.d system
script and from my own experience the one from the official branch
doesn't work.
What's the best method to add an icecast kh-breanch init script?

Dear Marius,
Our station is Megadanceradio in Hungary.

We are peaking at around 11.00 am and 13.00 pm in the afternoon.
We have tested extensively the bandwith with speedtest. We tried with iperf
but that did not finish for a long time so we stopped it.

Chrome not allowing mixed content anymore
For example, in my case, we use several servers with Centovacast, with
several Icecast2 services. Version 2.5 of Icecast2, allows to respond to
http and https connections from the same port, but takes years in beta.
Centovacast does not update its panel, waiting for the final version of
Icecast 2.5 to be released.
Chrome has been warning for months that this would happen in February, but
