Icecast help
Marc,
Lines with a <!-- and --> are commented and not used. You need to remove these around the mount items.
The <<!-- looks like it needs fixing.

Frauenhofer signing off on mp3, ogg stream player for Macs?
I must say this is a very confusing issue.
I generate AAC+ on an open source system which downloaded some code
during installation from the 3GPP source.
It appears the encoding software is being freely distributed, and
hardware which decodes the stream pays a licence fee at point of
manufacture.
We have such hardware. In a number of locations. One brand has AAC+
only, not AAC.
I note VLC

It's really pretty simple.
You can download the code and build it all you want... ...for yourself.
It cannot be distributed, sold, or used commercially in any way.
That's all.

Arel quiz: complex queries with associations
I have a real-world application with some complex queries that I want to
convert to Arel (as part of an upgrade to Rails 3.1). So that I can
understand what I''m doing before I flail around in my real app, I wrote
a little sample app (just the models) with some similar associations --
one table joined with itself and more tables that join to another table,
so there are some queries that

Marvin, fair enough.
Via's licensing terms appear to apply to encoders and decoders only, and
not to transports, such as Icecast ("An AAC patent license is needed by
manufacturers or developers of end-user encoder and/or decoder
products"), so using Icecast to transport an AAC-encoded stream is not a
violation of the
AAC is not mentioned in the Icecast documentation (that I can

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
Something else, Greg. Are you aware of any 3G / 2.5G (EDGE) clients for
mobile phones that support AAC+ streaming? Be it java or symbian based.
Thanks
Alex

icecast2.2 and aac?
ICecast i capable of sorts of streams, that is not your problem.
Your stream source client (DSP) is the part who must be capable of streaming the format you want.
For AAC use oddcast DSP www.oddsock.org capabale of AAC, LAME Mp3, and OGG (Free to use) very good at OGG specially with the vorbis 1.1 aoTuVb3 DLLs
For AAC Plus (HE_AAC) use Orban opticodec for PC (witch is capable of every bitrate

twitteR location?
Hi all,
Is it possible to get the latitude and longitude of the location of a
tweet? If I do
tweets<- searchTwitter("#obama", n=200) #get tweets
df <- twListToDF(tweets) #converts to data frame
for ease of viewing
it does not seem to be getting the location of where that tweet was posted.

Icecast2 Server - AAC/HE-AAC/aacPlus Support
Hello-
You guys have done an excellent job with the Icecast2 server.
I probably don't need to tell you that, but I did anyway.
We are Coding Technologies licensees and have recently developed a
streaming audio encoder supporting AAC/HE-AAC/aacPlus using RTSP/RTP,
SHOUTcast HTTP/ICY, and Icecast2 HTTP/ICY, Orban Opticodec-PC.

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
Pockect pc phones can use beta player that will play aac+ streams.
http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about
For symbian there is this:
http://opensource.nokia.com/projects/s60internetradio/index.html that
will stream aac+
Im a pocket pc person so don't ask me about symbian stuff. ;-)

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I believe that Oddsock is using a Content Type of aacp.
Using a .aac extension with this Content Type may present a conflict.
This might actually be by design.
I will do some further testing with Winamp and report here tomorrow.
I will also double-check with the developer of Winamp for complete
clarification.
FYI, Orban Opticodec-PC allows the use of either Content Type of aac
or aacp. aac is

Jack,
I am using AAC+ encoded by Darkice and distributed on Icecast2 on a
Ubuntu server. I had to install a number of open source libraries and
compile darkice from source. No licence.
non-free means you build each one stand alone and can't re distribute.
Quality is excellent, and it runs on most players.
I kept some notes [see below]
I am using AAC+ to feed a couple of LPFM sites with

Re-Assembling SongData in Icecast Streams..
Right... I understand how the stream works and we have no confusion at
all then.
So I need to create a script to re-inject MP3 Metadata from my
handy-dandy XML file (when it changes) which is easily done if, as you
say, there're a few variables that the admin.cgi can listen for (of
course Icecast has no admin.cgi)
The info you've provided for Shoutcast is useful and you allude to

AACPlus Shoutcast v1.90
OK, I've organized this.
It's not possible to average 32kb/s stereo with Vorbis using VBR.
Quality -2 stereo proeduces roughly 32 to 38kb/s which is too high for
many modems.
I would have to use ABR, but last I tried that, it utilized too much CPU
for my 950Mhz PC, and oddcast doesn't appear to support that option
anymore.
I've tried AACPlus 32kb/s mono and there is very
