Resample and Relay Using Icecast2
Hi Robert, Icecast itself doesn't do any resampling of audio streams it receives. One would likely craft a solution that listens to the original stream and re-encodes on the fly, providing those alternate bitrate streams back to Icecast. I've heard people doing this with liquidsoap and other source clients, and a bit of server-side magic. Some quick Googling provided me with this link

Resample and Relay Using Icecast2
Hi guys, There's a transcoding example using liquidsoap in our cookbook here: http://liquidsoap.fm/doc-1.3.2/cookbook.html Hope that helps! Frauenhofer signing off on mp3, ogg stream player for Macs?
It's really pretty simple. You can download the code and build it all you want... ...for yourself. It cannot be distributed, sold, or used commercially in any way. That's all. /g. -----Original Message----- From: Icecast [mailto:icecast-bounces at xiph.org] On Behalf Of Robert Jeffares Sent: Tuesday, 16 May, 2017 17:03 To: icecast at xiph.org Subject: Re: [Icecast] Frauenhofer signing

Frauenhofer signing off on mp3, ogg stream player for Macs?
Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits has stopped providing licenses for MP3 technology, "[...] noting that more superior audio formats have rendered the MP3 obsolete. Speaking to National Public Radio (USA), the Fraunhofer Institute said AAC has since become the 'de facto standard for music download and videos on mobile phones.' "

making sense of the stats
Hi, Robert. I appreciate the explanation. Indeed, the terminology is not consistent or intuitive. So by your "4 services" you mean _sources_? If clients are source connections (one and the same?), then how do we reconcile limits for both clients and sources? Is it like saying, 'for all of the X sources, they can have a total of Y connections'? How can I set limits on the

Is there a way to run Darkice without an audio interface? On Tue, 16 May 2017 10:25:43 +1200, you wrote: >Jack, > >I am using AAC+ encoded by Darkice and distributed on Icecast2 on a >Ubuntu server. making sense of the stats
I can't make sense of the connection stats on the admin page. We have one source and one mountpoint. What is the difference between _client_connections_ and _clients_ and _connection_s? How can they be so different in value? Same questions for _listener_connections_ and _listeners_? The connections values seem high for only 5 listeners and one admin. Here is a snapshot of the admin

Linux source-client that can push AAC to icecast2?
Hi all, I set up ezstream to read a playlist.m3u file containing only MP3 encoded songs (to shuffle continuously) and push this to icecast2. This works, and I can also reencode to a lower bitrate. I would like to know if there is a way to reencode these MP3s into AAC-LC 128kpbs and then push the stream to icecast2. I'm doing this on a VM with only terminal access and no audio hardware, so

Icecast source client with web request/voting for next to play function
Hi all! Thank you for having me. I'm a person who encourage a small local community for musical involvement. It already kinda worked, we are doing plenty of fantastic things together. What I am now thinking of is 24/7 Internet radio based on Icecast that will air all of their non-professional music I gathered. Functions I'm looking for: - frequent scanning of music directory to update

add AAC+ file header to new streams
Hi all. I believe there is an opportunity to have thousands of Shoutcast servers replaced with Icecast. What will do this is if Icecast can send a MPEG-4 AAC+ header as the first data a player receives when connecting to an audio/aacp stream. The reason for this is the AAC+ support added to Adobe Flash player last December. I could hear a loud sigh of relief each around the world when this was

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I believe that Oddsock is using a Content Type of aacp. Using a .aac extension with this Content Type may present a conflict. This might actually be by design. I will do some further testing with Winamp and report here tomorrow. I will also double-check with the developer of Winamp for complete clarification. FYI, Orban Opticodec-PC allows the use of either Content Type of aac or aacp. aac is

Stream playback issue
Can anyone tell me why this AAC+ Icecast stream will not play. http://s2.stationplaylist.com:7014/listen.aac.m3u The Icecast Server web page looks fine with a 64k stream. We host a small number of streams and other 64k AAC+ streams are working fine but this one won't play in any player. Thanks, Ross. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I'm not sure if this is an icecast issue or oddcast issue or both, but the latest Winamp (v5.22) is not now playing AAC+ streams encoded with Oddcast. Winamp v5.21 and earlier versions work fine. This may be some attempt by Winamp developers to force people to use Shoutcast, or to prevent oddcast from using their enc_aacplus.dll. Right, just took some time to set up the Shoutcast DSP to

converting mp3's to aac+ or ogg
Hello, I've got a FreeBSD 6 machine running icecast2 and ices0streaming four different streams of mp3's. Now i have a need to stream the same content as either aac+ or ogg vorbis whichever would be easiest to set up and give the best quality. I want these new streams to handle both broadband and dialup users without sacrificing quality. My problem is i really really do not want to
