Fw: VPN setup problem - proxy arp I think
Hi all, I read the setup at http://www.blackh0le.net/articles/vpn-dun-howto.html to setup my VPN. However, I'm having a problem which I think is proxy-ARP not working. I like to ask you to see if you know what's going on. When I ping 10.77.1.1 from windows XP machine the packets get to the 10.77.1.1 machine, but they don't have a return path to get back. When I do ping the windows

Possible security hole in racoon verified on FreeBSD using racoon-20030711
Hi, while testing racoon on Linux (based on the ported ipsec-tools) the following issue appeared: Racoon did not verify the RSA Signatures during Phase 1 in either main or aggressive mode. Authentication was possible using a correct certificate and a wrong private key. I have verified the below problem using racoon-20030711 on FreeBSD 4.9. I will test it using the SNAP Kit but suspect it to be

MPPE required, but kernel has no support.
Ok, on to new swamps. I would like to enable PPTP on CentOS4 to accept connections from clients running MicroSoft Win2K and XP pro from outside our firewall. I am testing pptpd-1.2.3-0 and tells me that I need kernel support for MPPE, which I suppose is MicroSoft's own form of PtoP encryption. Is there a way of doing this without rebuilding the kernel? If so, how? Regards, Jim --

NTLM_AUTH failing?
I'm setting up a PPTP VPN server on a client domain and am having an odd issue. If I run ntlm_auth on the command-line, it works as expected. However, if I run it with my PPTP server, it denies access to every user. MY setup is that I have a few AD users in an AD group named "PPTP". I have the following in my pptp-options file. The server is Debian Squeeze 64bit. name vpn01 domain

HTB qdisc within HTB root qdisc
Hello... Im trying to setup HTB to allow me to shape traffic from two upstreams that meets on single lan0 interface. I prefer to use HTB qdisc within HTB root qdisc for cleaner rules design. Seems that it doesnt work at all. tc -s class show doesnt show any traffic on other classes attached to HTB qdisc. Linux 2.6.20.7 iproute-2.6.20-070313 Weird thing is that tc -s class show that 1: and 2:

NTLM_AUTH failing?
I am not sure how to determine the separator, but 'which' shows "/usr/bin/ntlm_auth". I already ran it while on-site. Since it is broken, I cannot remote in. I will have to show up on-site again, possibly Thursday. weird fail with conversion to bridges?
I''m converting my network from a "one interface per segment" to a "single connection with vlans", well, some hardware I have requires using different vlan IDs. suffice it to say I need bridges to connect a few different vlans that should all be one but can''t be because of firmware constraints. so my first step is to get shorewall to know about bridges.

VPN server and logon to Samba PDC
My goal is to make VPN access to our Samba PDC (FreeBSD 7.0) so that users can access there home shares from Windows clients. I have read the instructions at http://samba.org/ftp/unpacked/lorikeet/pppd/final-report.pdf, but I can't make it work. Don't know if is due to my lack of skills or has something to do with the Popop functionality in FreeBSD. Following the instructions, i made a

I want to connect to a l2tp server from centos.
OK So i took the time and finally built a RPM for the softether vpn server and client. I have not tested them for usage but I found out that only the server side can work with multiple protocols while the client side works only with one protocol. The actual protocol is called "ethernet overl HTTPS". More info on the product: http://www.softether.org/ The gui is only for windows as

Thank you, Rowland. I will be going by this afternoon and I will check. The thing is, if it IS "\", how do I enter that into the pptp-options file? The entire list of parameters are in quotes, so do I need a double-backslah or anything? PPTP doesn't use ipsec either, it uses its own MPPE encryption based on RC4, which is considered insecure as of years ago.

I want to connect to a l2tp server from centos.
Hey John, I do not require encryption at all, it's a secure and internal channel but it requires me to connect via either pptp or l2tp. This is the reason I am asking. I had the chance of finding the SoftEther Project which gives a lot in terms of VPN Client and Server. At: http://www.softether-download.com/en.aspx But yet to try it. Also they have all sorts of beta versions but not

bridge or vlan
Hello to everyone, Here is the situation: [LAN1]---[eth3]/----------\ | LinuxBR |[eth2]---[LAN0]---[linuxGW]---[internet] [LAN2]---[eth4]\----------/ Whole LAN is in subnet 10.0.0.0/24. So I need: LAN0, LAN1, LAN2 could not see each other. LAN0, LAN1, LAN2 is in same subnet (10.0.0.0/24). All LANs have to get only internet. How can I configure LinuxBR to do so?
