The m3u is down loaded to the client. The client [user] determines rhe
player, what ever is the default player. Media player is not a good
player, since it does not read the meta data well. If u right click on
the m3u and have other players you can select. I find itunes the best for
icecast if you are looking at having the client play

Listener statistics on a fallback stream
Hello,
I've come across a small problem and I'm not sure it's a bug or a
misconfiguration in icecast, so I thought I'd ask here.
The situation: we have an automated radio station that is fed from a
dedicated virtual machine with SAM broadcaster. I set up a stream with a
fallback mount; SAM connects to the fallback. Now, whenever the DJ wants
to broadcast live all he has to do is

This is were it gets a little complicated
jPlayer http://jplayer.org/latest/demos/ Where music is played from
the web site rather then from the client
At the creation of our web site we made a decision to only stream mp3's.
All music uploaded is converted to the mp3 format. We felt the
complexity would be less difficult
Rather the get into the multiplayer formats OGG, wav ect ect, we

Zero listeners on icecast stats
I must try that. Will let you know asap!
btw I'm not "trying to stick with the one that has the most universal
"default browser support" but instead trying to avoid a LOT of
listeners writing me "my player/browser/whatever doesn't connect, it
doesn't understand ogg / opus / xspf " etc. etc. - so mp3 it is.
It's simple surviving :)

They simply have not. When I click those, it does not open in the player
it says there.
And it makes no sense imo to have this kind of links, it's better to
have a playlist link
like the m3u Icecast provides and the user will have the

help on listener connection stats
Hi,
I see two statistics on the admin web page.
On my system "listeners" is usually 0. Sometimes I will
actually catch it at 1 or 2, but it is 0 99% of the time.
On the other hand "listener_connections" is always
going up. If I refresh the screen it goes up by a few.
If I wait an hour and refresh it goes up by tens.
Over a few days it goes up by hundreds.
What is this

Blocking IP addresses on a per mountpoint level
Thanks.
Indeed - but is it it possible to block IP addresses on a per mountpoint
level? For example, my user with /mountpointA.ogg does not mind being
hammered by connections from 93.184.216.34 [example.com] but my user with
/mountpointB.ogg wants to block that IP address.
Using iptables I've blocked connections, at a server level, from example.com
for my User B but my User A doesn't

Zero listeners on icecast stats
Hi there,
I just set up a system of fallback streams for our free radio station
here but I have this weird problem: it always show zero listeners.
Our setup is this:
We have a listening mount point for people - that fall back to a live
streaming from a cellular phone - that fall back to a live streaming
from a base station (a pc), that fall back to a 24/7 archive
streaming.
No matter what the

The answer is I think so - - -I am new at this.
I am only on the Air Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from noon until 3pm

I have been on the air using icecast since around 1/15/16. I was trying to
access some historical information regarding number of users that have
listened for each show - - -I was trying to access this through admin.
Should I be able to find this information using

Ice cast Hacking
Hello,The station I run using ice cast keeps being targeted by a hacker. They manage to kill and start our stream at there own will. They have messaged us through a fake Facebook account telling us that they are hacking us and that in order for it to stop we need to give them our Wordpress admin, this was obviously never sent over.
Any suggestions on how to stop and defend these attacks would be

Well, the fallback mount is still a mount-point nonetheless. you could
still use it as a "regular" mount-point even if its configured as a
fallback to another.
Now, as for the statistics, should we be able to help without knowing

Hi there,
The results have just been in and the Ruby-on-Rails team from Finalist
IT Group reached an incredible _second_ place!
We''re actually so surprised, that I personally expect the start of RoR
