Question about fallback ability to another server
Hello everyone. I have two servers that both run Icecast2. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to have the fallback stream of one server redirect to a stream on the other server? I know it may sound odd doing this, but one of my servers doesn't have the required storage to hold the fallback files but is overall more stable. So I want to use the stable server when live streaming, but the

understanding icecast decoding from a listener client perspective
I want to write an icecast listener client using C# and C++. I can asynchronously connect read the continuous bytes from the stream using some basic C# code. When I look at the bytes (interpreted as ASCII) I don't understand what it is that I need to be using before passing the Ogg to libogg. I see some artist information, and I know that there is an ICY200OK type of message. I also see

source buffer
I will give a little background... For more than 10 years until now im using Shoutcast 1.9.5/1.9.8 win32 on my machines. "What's working, d'ont touch". Now im changing to ice 2.4.2. The flexibility of the ice is great. but, because of the things that "hidden" from the eye im little bit afraid to make changes that will be dramatic for the listeners. So, for the

Listener statistics on a fallback stream
Hello, I've come across a small problem and I'm not sure it's a bug or a misconfiguration in icecast, so I thought I'd ask here. The situation: we have an automated radio station that is fed from a dedicated virtual machine with SAM broadcaster. I set up a stream with a fallback mount; SAM connects to the fallback. Now, whenever the DJ wants to broadcast live all he has to do is

No password for private network
I'd really like an option "noprivate" or somesuch within the 'authentication' specification which would not require a password for listener requests originating from a private network (192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x or 172.16.x.x, etc ). Is this posssible? -- ************************************************************************ * Dave Serls

Best source for creating multiple streams
Hi there. I'm trying to find a way to create multiple streams with one source client. Each of the streams should read from a different playlist file and randomly pull and play songs from the file. I know how to do this with a single stream with clients such as IceS and Ezstream, but I don't see a way to specify different playlists for each mountpoint. I was wondering if anyone had any

Edit icecast.xml while server running
Thanks for your reply...! It was a permission problem as I had to run as admin to edit it! The problem I'm having now is connecting to the server with SAM broadcaster... Is there any other software I need to run other than Sam and icecast? The server is invalidating the password authentication now? bored? Become a Icecast volunteer
Good morning everyone! As some of you may already have noticed we made quite some progress during the last few weeks. Icecast got some major updates to internal parts. Visible to the outside are the new tags <role> and <event>. Those changes lead to need of updating documentation. Something we have been working on anyway. Beside documentation also testing is a topic getting more and

Fallback stream not preventing a disconnect
Dear Philipp, Thanks for this fast answer. I'm using "Icecast 2.3.3-kh7-20130425090916", installed on a Raspberry Pi 3 using the cononical "sudo apt-get install". The output was copied from the log file in /var/log/icecast2/error.log. Kind regards, Erwin 2017-08-28 10:06 GMT+02:00 Philipp Schafft <lion at lion.leolix.org>: > Good morning, > > On Mon,

Fallback stream not preventing a disconnect
Dear all, I"m using a combination of mopidy, icecast2 and Home-Assistant on a raspberry pi to stream Google music to a Chromecast Audio. The streaming works and I can listen to music. If a new song is being started, I keep connected. However, upon changing the song or pausing the stream, the chromecast gets disconnected. I assumed that this should be resolved by adding a fallback stream,

TuneIn Won't Record from my Icecast Relays
Hi. If I open http://audio-mp3.ibiblio.org:8000/wncw-128k, or any other URL on my TuneIn app in iOS, I have the ability to record those streams for later listening. However, if I relay any of those streams via Icecast 2.42 on Windows 8.1, I can't record in TuneIn Pro. Is there a known cause or work-around for this? Thanks!
