icecast + liveice won't play nicely
Kerry. I would like to get a copy of this document which you speak of. I have had generic trouble in getting livice properly installed and think that would do the trick... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kerry Cox" <kerry.cox@ksl.com> To: <icecast@xiph.org> Sent: Thursday, November 07, 2002 10:22 AM Subject: Re: [icecast] icecast + liveice won't play nicely

Tell me why my Shoutcase handler sucks!
So, I want to build the greatest online radio ever! (for my, currently crappy, faderwave.net radio station. Right now, I''m running Icecast straight up. The only problem is that managing different DJs and keeping them off the air when they aren''t supposed to be there is a pain. There also is not one single management package that does everything. My current system is a hacked

DMCA and webcasting
Last year I arranged with my college radio station and ITS department to webcast the radiostation using icecast. The webcast has been a wonderful success so far. My problem now is not technical, but political. A few days ago I recieved the following message from the station director: ================================================================== hey josh, i talked to [faculty advisor]

Typically end-to-end 'delay' of live audio
I have an audio device driver for a live feed that produces Opus frames, if I were to use icecast, what sort of real-time delay can I expect? 3-5s? 5-10s? more? I've tried using the html5 <audio> tag directly to stream my source, but it seems browsers like to queue-up 250K to 500K of audio 'data' before they begin playback. That introduces a 15-30s delay depending on browser

What Does Icecast Do
Hello, I have another question as to what we need to use with our stations, if Icecast is what we need. We will be simulcasting three stations through DSL. No one will be accessing this but our stations. We will put out our programming from the main office, hook up a computer at three stations to receive the feed and put it out on air. Then also we will be on the internet with one of the

Typically end-to-end 'delay' of live audio
Thanks. Here's bit more detail. We have a scientific audio instrument that comes with its own audio driver. This driver gives us Opus 'frames'. From a remote location (typically less than 200mS round trip) we would like someone using a browser (without a plugin) to 'hear' this device. We need the low end-to-end delay as there is an active Video session (separate

Winamp Issues
I'm currently working on a streaming radio server that will be streaming randomized archive shows 90% of the time and then live shows 10% of the time. The solution I came up with was to have /main the archive mountpoint and have a /live for the live shows. What we want to do is use the functionality of icecast's moveusers.xsl to move them to the live at the specified time and have

List of &quot;digipeaters&quot; (like live365) needed (aka BW providers).
I need a "complete" list of "reliable" services for repeating the signal of a station to the listeners (live radio). The situation is that a station will be doing live radio and has a little DSL connection and external bandwith will be required. I don't mind if it costs much or it is cheap, I now just want to join information to say my customer: You have all this coices,

Icecast source client with web request/voting for next to play function
Hi all! Thank you for having me. I'm a person who encourage a small local community for musical involvement. It already kinda worked, we are doing plenty of fantastic things together. What I am now thinking of is 24/7 Internet radio based on Icecast that will air all of their non-professional music I gathered. Functions I'm looking for: - frequent scanning of music directory to update

*Real* real time streaming (no delay/latency)?
Hello Does anyone have experience with _real_ real time streaming - i.e. with very little delay/latency? I need to stream from point A to point B in near-CD quality via a 100 Mbit network. That is easily done using icecast. But here is the tricky bit: I want as little delay in the signal as possibble - preferrably below 50ms! I have made a test setup encoding on and serving from an 800 MHz

fallback mount points?
hello all. I run a station which uses one primary mount to broadcast from. when DJs are not on air, we want to stream a playlist of music. I have a program taking care of that for us, but now I?m at a standstill. When our automation connects to our primary mount point no DJ can connect to broadcast. So, I?m assuming I need to work something out with a fallback mount point but don?t quite get how
