making sense of the stats
I can't make sense of the connection stats on the admin page. We have one source and one mountpoint. What is the difference between _client_connections_ and _clients_ and _connection_s? How can they be so different in value? Same questions for _listener_connections_ and _listeners_? The connections values seem high for only 5 listeners and one admin. Here is a snapshot of the admin

icecast2 mountpoints maximum
We are using icecast as stream-relay for a true narrowcast solution we've developed. The idea behind the system is that each individual client gets it's own mountpoint. Basically we have an application that creates streams. Its written in c++ and uses libshout to handle connecting to icecast. Everything works fine, as long as we keep the number of mountpoints below 347. As soon as we

Hi, Robert. I appreciate the explanation. Indeed, the terminology is not consistent or intuitive. So by your "4 services" you mean _sources_? If clients are source connections (one and the same?), then how do we reconcile limits for both clients and sources? Is it like saying, 'for all of the X sources, they can have a total of Y connections'? How can I set limits on the

I have managed to get icecast to start, but when I browse to the admin directory, I get this output: http://127.0.0.1:8000/admin/stats.xml XML Parsing Error: no element found Location: http://127.0.0.1:8000/admin/stats.xml Line Number 1, Column 1: Am I supposed to wrap this output in an xhtml page, like when doing an AJAX query? _Streaming_ AAC to HTML5 player
We've been using Icecast KH for years now with great success. Thanks again Karl H! It's past time to ditch Flash! I'm probably a bit out of date on this issue. The last time I checked, no browser was able to directly play an AAC / MP4 / M4A stream from Icecast. They can play AAC _files_ but not _streams_. I see that there are now alternatives beyond Wowza and Red5. But my

theora streaming problem...
hi everyone! i'm playing around with theora streaming for the linux audio conference 2005 (http://lac.zkm.de). i checked out svn.xiph.org/trunk, built all ogg, vorbis, speex and theora related libs from scratch, then pulled icecast-2.2.0. three issues: [1] icecast runs fine as always, but when i do cat myvideo.ogg | oggfwd myhost 8000 mypasswd /test.ogg, the stream dies after a few

icecast2 mountpoints maximum
A small update from my side.. i have updated both icecast and libshout to the nightly snapshot versions of icecast.org. Also, in the configfile i have raised the threadpool to 500 and all timeouts to 3000. This did help a bit. Right now i can get it up to 1020 inputstreams, however then it just stops accepting new connections. Is there a theoretical maximum to the number of mountpoints icecast

Hi Justin, /*  Aren't listeners also clients?*/ No. Icecast xml is a bit daunting. There are two kinds of connections. Listener and Client Client:... Connections from your source which may be darkice, BUTT, or some other encoder. You actually need plenty of these. I set mine to 20 when I have 4 services. One client may have several connections. I assume there is some handshaking and

Hi, Looking into LLVM for a database query engine project... After downloading the latest source from CVS, it's my first time trying to build LLVM. Fallback trouble with icecast 2.1kh
Hello, I found a fallback trouble on icecast 2.1kh4 (but it's the same with 2.0 I think) : - ices streams live.ogg to icecast - icecast has a fallback live-default.ogg for live.ogg - a listener A listen at live.ogg - I shut down the source - the listener A is trying to read data from its connection, but receives nothing. Sometimes, it gets fallback data, sometimes nothing... (source
