Icecast2 under OpenBSD - update
Hi,
I've come a step further in my attempt to compile Icecast2 under
OpenBSD... I didn't have the pth library installed (d'oh), but ´cd
/usr/ports/devel/pth && make install´ did the job.
It still bails out at the same point, though, but this time with another
error message:

Freedomaudio player
Hi folks
Got Icecast2 running on Redhat8 with IceS2 as a source, streaming some OGG
files. All works nicely (not _especially_ reliable :) but it seems to lock
up the Freedomaudio java player between tracks.
Everytime a new file begins, the player stops and says 'Loading'.
I'm wondering if it's somehthing to do with metadata -
is there a way of disabling metadata from IceS2? (i.e.

multiple ices streams and misc other stuff?
Hi all: I was just wondering when the multiple streams stuff might be
checked in to cvs. I remember the gentleman working on it saying he
basically had it running? The reason I'm asking is that I have
received a number of requests to stream my mp3 stream at various
bitrates. I kind of think running three ices streamers is silly if
multiple streams will be available in the near future.

ices 0.2.2 does not reencode mp3s
I recently upgraded ices from 0.1.0 to 0.2.2. I have found that it
is not reencoding my mp3 stream, even though I have it configured to.
This is on a RedHat linux 7.0 system, kernel 2.4.11
ices build commands:
./configure --with-perl --with-lame \
--with-lame-includes=/usr/local/src/lame-3.89/include \
--with-lame-libraries=/usr/local/src/lame-3.89/libmp3lame/.libs

I did modify my ices.conf when I made the upgrade.

If you want to stream at any bandwidth other than what the files were
recorded at, you'll need to re-encode using lame (or another codec). If you
rip the files at the same bandwidth you'll be streaming at, you won't need
it.

Crossfader for ices 0.3
FYI, I've added a crossfader to the ices0 trunk in subversion:
http://svn.xiph.org/icecast/trunk/ices0
It requires LAME support (of course). To use it, either pass -C <secs>
on the command line, or add a <Crossfade>secs</Crossfade> node to the
Playlist section of the config file. Reencoding must also be enabled
on your stream.
NOTE: the crossfader can't resample, so all

Newbie question: Poor transmission quality
I am using Icecast2 with Ezstream, sending a playlist of mp3s. The signal
quality is fine over my home network; but out on the internet it is poor,
with frequent interruptions and losses of connection.
I would like to know which of the following two conditions, if any, can be
causing the problem. First, I have a dsl internet service, with only 160k
upload capacity. Second, my home network is

Multiple mount points without dynamic reencoding
Hello:
I am running the icecast2.3.2 server and ices0.4 with a perl script
which provides the filename of the next track to play. I am reencoding
in advance using ffmpeg, which has been very reliable. My main stream is
mp3, 64kbps / 44.1 kHz (mono) and I have pre-reencoded the tracks to
32kbps / 22.05 kHz (mono), for a lower data rate stream. At this time, I
have not figured out how to get a

ices-0.4 Reencode problems
Since the mailing list archives are a bit difficult to go through at the
moment, I'll go ahead and simply ask. If I fire up ices-0.4 with reencode
enabled, at pretty much the end of every song I get an error:
bitstream problem: resyncing...
Occasionally it will also throw in a:
mpg123: Can't rewind stream by NNN bits!
And eventually after a dozen songs or so I'll get a rash

ices and VBR mp3s?
I posted a while back about having trouble with ices 0.2.2 being
able to re-encode VBR mp3s, and the response was that ices 0.2.2 did
not reencode VBR mp3s. Are there any plans to include such support
in future ices versions? If so, any ideas as to when such versions
would become available?
Thanks,

Ices2 - reencoding ogg?
Ok so I'm up and riding with Icecast2 and ices2, thanks for all of
you who pointed me in the right directon. I can stream fine without
reencoding but when I change the nominal-bitrate tag its not happy.
Comments in the xml file say:
<!-- Live encoding/reencoding:
Currrently, the parameters given here for encoding
MUST match the input data for channels and sample rate.

ezstream question
Hi all:
I am managing a radio station that has 7 streams.
I am using icecast, ices and ezstream on the streams and overall it is
working pretty well.
One of the streams is an old time radio stream and I use ezstream to run the
prerecorded shows.
The streams are 128K mp3 streams.
Also this station is running on a VPS using Ubuntu 14.04.
My question:
Is there a package or some sort of

Multiple Stream? Request for Config
Greeting all --
I'm having some problems setting up multiple streams with iceS, for
example, a hi-bandwidth and lo-bandwidth stream of the same audio. Could
someone post a config that works in this case?
thanks
