Stream HD video
I agree I have not seen any H264 streaming info for icecast2.
If you are however interested in using ogg/vorbis (Theora) look up Theora
Streaming Studio in the Theora Cookbook and it will give you some info.
Additionally if you wish to script this task you can look up the info on the
three commands TSS wraps, specifically dvgrab/ffmpeg2theora/oggfwd. if your
source file is in a h264 medium you

Video Streaming an ip mjpeg camera
Hi!
Just searched the icecast forum but didn't find anything, so I'll ask you.
Do you know of a streaming server to take as input a mjpeg stream from
an ip camera and transcode it to ogg[vorbis] and handle it to icecast?
Please don't mention vlc. Already tried and every 10 sec it freezes and
buffers. Just playing the camera in vlc works fine, but not transcoding
and connecting

Live HTTP streaming of Theora files
What's the easiest way to broadcast a "live" event using Theora?
- Microsoft Media Services uses a closed protocol (MMS) and special
streaming servers, so I'm not excited to go that way, even though it
seems to be the most obvious choice. (Though I'm not sure if I could
convince it to use Theora anyway.)
- I could encode the entire file into an Ogg/Theora file and just

video streaming
Hi,
We're planning to launch a video stream.
We do not have anything yet (no camera, no computer, no software, only a
Linux server that will do the broadcasting with icecast installed).
Has anyone ever done such a thing? What hardware do you suggest? What
software can be used (both for Linux and Windows on source side). Can
Icecast be used for this video streaming purpose (on server side)?

Problems with low frame rate streams
Hi,
I'm developing a streaming solution with quite uncommon characteristics.
We have some image snapshots that arrive regularly but with a very low
frequency and we would like to be observe these images a video stream.
The conversion to video is easy, ffmpeg can create a Theora ogg stream
from the static pictures and I already got it working. The problem is
that I cannot go below 4 fps.

Speex client?
Hello,
On the announcement page for Icecast 2.3 it mentions
"Streaming support for ogg speex, ogg flac, ogg midi".
I've googled around and not found any free clients that
support streaming speex. I looked at svn for libshout2 and
it doesn't seem to support speex and skimming through
the list archives I only see mention of speex last February,
which seemed to indicate it would

mp3 stream and Chrome v.65.0.33.25.181
Hi there,
I have used VLC 0.9.9 on Windows platform for streaming audio to icecast2 for years. Had no problems. Since Google Chrome v.65.0.33.25.181 I ran into problems. Stream will play couple of minutes and then stop.
Is there something fundamentally wrong with my configuration in vlm configuration:

No quality advantage with two-pass?
The ffmpeg2theora chapter[1] of the Theora Cookbook says that the only
advantage of two-pass encoding is that you can hit a specific target
size. But isn't it so that you can reserve bits for difficult parts of
a video, which improves the perceived quality? It may be true that
Theora does quite alright without two passes, but it seems like a
no-brainer to me that two passes will always be

Multicast Paging
I know this may be a bit off topic...
I'm trying to play a pre-recorded message to a group of Aastra phones using multicast paging. I can page phone to phone without issue, but sending from one of my servers to the phones results in garbled audio. Anyone else been able to make this work without problem? My VLC command line is below.
cvlc -v emergency-test2.wav --norm-max-level=5 --sout
