Need Help: Sometimes Stop during smbd start
Hi during Startup of SuSE-Linux 7.2 Prof. the PC is sometimes ( 1 of 10 times) stopping by start smbd. Reset knop the help only. I have this problem with the samba version in SuSE package and version 2.2.5 too. In the file ../rc3.d/S12smb I added 2 lines to see if nmbd and smbd are startet. I see nmbd is starting always, the text "SAMBA smbd gestartet" is in case of fault not printing.

Using MGE UPS's with NUT and openSUSE
Dear List, I thought it might be useful if I wrote up my notes on getting an MGE UPS to work with NUT and openSUSE. The MGE UPS (an Ellipse 1500 USB) will work well with NUT and openSUSE 10.2, but not "out-of-the-box": there are some things you need to do: Intro. MGE have built rpms of NUT which greatly simplify installation. Merci MGE. I used the rpm's for nut-2.0.5 and the

Network stops responding after some time
Hi there, I''m using the Suse Enterprise 10 RC2 along with Xen 3.0.2 on X86-64 and I''m experiencing a problem with the network. I boot into the Xen kernel and everything works just fine. I can browse the net etc. However after a while the network stops responding completely. I am not sure what causes this to happen or what triggers it. After a few hours, the network just stops

Samab and init.d
Is it better to start Samba using in initd, or to use the script, much like the one provided by SuSE. ?? so far I have used the script, but I don't like the fact of having to start samba manually. I would much prefer to see it run as a service. just to confirm all it really involves is starting smbd and nmbd Rowan [TSS] Gerber Scientific Products http://www.gspinc.com

domU x-server startup
Hi, I have recently started taking a look at Xen and have so far setup a Xen installation on a Fedora Core 5 host. I have also created a FC5 guest which boots up fine. I have found on the internet instructions on how to start the x-server for a linux based guest by using VNC. And, although I''ve managed to start the x-server, it is all done manually. I.e. start the Linux guest, log

How to get usb storage under /media in runlevel 3?
Hello I have previously used Centos 4.x in runlevel 3, when I plug in my usb storage device/cd in cd-rom, it is shown under /media, for example /media/MyUsbStick. Now in Centos 5.2, when I insert usb storage device, nothing is shown under /media (runlevel 3). When I have runlevel 5 and X running, usb stick / cdrom is automounted fine. I can mount the stick using /dev/xxx device, but would

startup script for icecast
Hello, I was wondering about the feasibility of including a startup script for icecast for redhat/fedora installs? I've had to do an rpm install on an fc4 box, and a source install, rpms couldn't be found for an rh9 machine, yah i know that's old. And in both cases i had to drop in a custom-made startup script, see below. I was wondering esepcially in the case of the rpm, and

Shutdown script not being run
I've got an odd problem. My server will not shutdown normally because the AoE driver is not being shut down properly. While investigating the problem, I found that the aoe script is apparently not being called for shutdown. I have been able to duplicate this with a brand new test script. My test script is just a simple file that echos back the start or stop command: #!/bin/bash #

[LLVMdev] [PATCH] MC: handle .cfi_startproc simple
Really sorry I missed this. Just found it looking for something else in my inbox. I think we should support this but * We should still err on other identifiers ".cfi_startport bar" is invalid. * If I read the gas documentation correctly, the effect of "simple" is to skip the initial cfi instructions. We should test if that is the case and implement it too. Accepting and

VM boots BUT keep throwing: "INIT: Id "X" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes"
Hi, This is my setting: I have a Logical Volume /dev/VG/suse with Suse installed. I have added it to the grub and I can boot it and works perfectly fine. Now I am running /dev/VG/root which is running Xen0. I have created a Xen config file to boot a VM with disk: /dev/VG/suse. In other words I want to boot /dev/VG/suse as a virtual machine. Below is what I am getting at boot time :

[PATCH] appliance: Make sure /tmp and /var/tmp are real directories.
Currently if /tmp (on the host) is a symlink, then the symlink is copied into the appliance, probably pointing to a non-existent directory, and everything goes downhill from there. Avoid this by making sure that /tmp and /var/tmp are real directories. --- appliance/init | 5 +++++ 1 file changed, 5 insertions(+) diff --git a/appliance/init b/appliance/init index 3c5ef1b..3973f18 100755 ---
