ADSL ppp0, persist
Hello guys, I have two ISP's connected to my router. One via eth2, second one via ADSL modem, with ppoe doing on my Centos 5 . The problem I have is, that when ADSL fails , interface ppp0 is removed. This also removes my static routes configured for this interface. I do not want that, as I have load balancing configured and default route is removed when ppp0 interface disapears. This is my

Question about rsync
Hello All, I've been getting an error using rsync that I've been trying to track down the cause of, but haven't been able to solve yet. When I try to connect to a remote rsync deamon, using a double colon address like 192.168.0.2::classes to copy files in either direction, I get this error after a timeout. @ERROR: chroot failed rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (128 bytes

Dynamic IP Addrress Work Around
I have one of my asterisks off an xDSL modem with a dynamic IP address. The IP address keeps on changing so I am curious as to what other people are doing to work around this issue. I am contemplating to register for a dynamic DNS service but then my communications become dependent on the availability of this service. The "host=dynamic" for SIP seems interesting. Any suggestions?

newbie - shaping a PSTN connection
Hi - I''ve been going through the LARTC how-to and have successfully used the sample scripts (and wondershaper) with my xDSL links. I''m now faced with the challenge of providing 8 users at work an effective remote access connection over a PSTN ppp connection. The critical traffic in this case relates to our stock enquiry application which is running over terminal services.

Can't Configure USB ADSL Router
Hi All, I'm trying to get my Mother's ADSL USB Router to work on CentOS 4-3. I see the device in Hardware Browser/System devices but nowhere in Network Configuration is it an option. I even tried New/xDSL but it doesn't appear as an option there either. Any suggestions for this? Cheers. Mark Sargent.

Newbie ADSL configuration, ppp0 can't activate & config not found
I am frustrated. This is a dual boot box, Win XP (Spanish) and CentOS 4.4. The phone company man came today and installed ADSL to the WinXP side and that works fine. I can't get the box online, while in CentOS 4.4. The ADSL router has a fixed IP address (192.168.1.1) and he configured it to get the IP from the ISP via DHCP and get the DNS servers automatically. When I try that on CentOS (which

Need basic PPPoE startup help
I need basic PPPoE startup help. adsl-start DID bring up my PPPoE link (ppp0) to my ISP over eth0 via the DSL modem/bridge. My IPv4 CIDR block is routing and Shorewall is doing the firewalling. But shorewall has to be started after ppp0 is up and working. For now this means running shorewall restart (or start?). Shorewall 4.2 will have a way to restart shorewall without recompiling, I

asterisk 1.4.X, T.38 and NAT
Hi, I have been trying to get T.38 to work with clients behind NAT for the past week but with no success. I have an asterisk server on the public internet and several Grandstream (I tried Linksys too) HT502 ATAs behind NAT in different locations. I tried every possible combination of NAT, canreinvite, t38pt_usertpsource entries, I even tried asterisk 1.4.19, 1.4.24.1, 1.4.25 all with the same

Anyone using PCI/USB xDSL under Linux?
I am looking to find people who are using either a PCI xDSL card or an USB xDSL modem right now under Linux. I am not entirely sure where I should go look to find people who do this, but they definitely exist now that there are drivers for several modems. Specifically I am interested in performance and latency. When using an ethernet connected xDSL modem, you obviously get the ethernet latency

PPPoE and IPv6
I am not getting my IPv6 address and prefix delegation for my ppp interface on my new gateway. ppp is working right. It is getting authenticated and getting the its IPv4 address. Shorewall is doing the forwarding and the static routes on the internal interface for IPv4 are working. But no IPv6. Here is my ifcfg-ppp0: USERCTL=no BOOTPROTO=dialup NAME=DSLppp0 DEVICE=ppp0 TYPE=xDSL ONBOOT=no

troubles with broken clients (iPhone) - again
The PC (Outlook) is accessing the mailbox via POP3, the iPhone is using IMAP; please consider we are talking about a user's home setup, so it's pretty difficult to have a more detailed report on his part (Outlook version, iPhone OS version, xDSL router type and configuration, etc.). The mail server 'dovecot -n' output is attached. The symptoms: when the Mail application is

Clients, not always connecting since about 2.4.1, 2.4.2.
Hi Philip, I'll do more testing and logging over the weekend and see how I go. At the moment I have 2.4.4 Win32 running on port 9000 @ http://radioinvercargill.nz:9000/ I'm not sure how good this will be from overseas as the queue is only about 8 seconds, burst about 4 seconds. It's adequate for xDSL/Fibre and 4G mobile over here and is on a 450Mbps upstream fibre line. I've
