Error on installation of Ruby On Rails on QNAP TS809U-RP [Linux]
I am not sure where I should even begin troubleshooting this. I know a
little bit about Linux and am comfortable editing files and running
commands however definitely not a Linux guru. I have ipkg already installed
on the QNAP. I know absolutely nothing about ruby on rails. Thanks for any
help.
For those that are not familiar with a QNAP, ipkg is the same as apt-get or
yum in some Linux

Live linux booting
I have a need to have a live Linux (Debian or sysrescued ) to boot off a hard-drive so that the
hard-drive ends up umounted after boot. (for running partimage ).
I've gone down the memdisk iso route and read about the issues there - I've seen a way to do this by
mounting over nfs (messy) - but I want to do this without the network.
I'm thinking that there should be a way to loop

Changing Domain Passwords
Greetings
Can anyone tell me if this is possible?
Given a network of Linux based servers with a Linux based PDC (Centos
3.9) running samba 3.0.26a and NIS with Windows-XP clients, we want to
enforce password changing policies for the Windows Domain.
We want to have users able to change their own passwords at required but
with some control over minimum complexity, re-use etc. We want them to

Embedded Asterisk
I caught a thread the other day concerning Astricon and users embedding
Asterisk on a Linksys or Netgear broadband router. I lost track of the
email thread, if anyone is presently working with this scenario please shoot
me an email.
Thanks

Samba for Embedded System, Network-Storage and Print-Server
Hi,
I am new to the mailing list, if any thing is wrong please excuse me in
advance.
We are running Linux-2.4.20 on the MIPS32 architecture. We have USB2.0 host
and various network interfaces on the board and we want to support "USB
Network-Storage" and "USB Print-Server". Until now I am able the make
"USB-Storage" and "USB-Printer" working locally.

ices2 memory leak on Debian/ARM (The Darkener)
Sorry to interrupt
but for such devices you should use Optware. - It is created for this
kind of hardware.

Here is the Bootstrap for ARM

and in this repository you find a Ices

app_queue problem with Ringing state
Hi,
This is the output from queue show 28:
47 (DAHDI/g0/12345678) (realtime) (Ringing) has taken no calls yet
Why is the devicestate "Ringing" when no channels is calling this
number, and the queue says "has taken no calls yet"?
Is it picking up the general state of a random channel on g0 in dahdi?
Or what is happening? It only seems to happen with this particular

German Umlaut issue on uNSLUnged Linksys with Samba3
[sorry for my maybe newbie Qs and using this group for my busybox
issue but though having visited some forums about this I'm getting
nuts]
I unslugged a Linksys NSLU2 device with V2.3R63-uNSLUng-6.8-beta as I
plan to use it as a DC replacement for my W2k server at home. But I
already got stuck before this.
Following the unslinging I installed the Samba3 IPKGs for the NSLU

Re Phrase Tuning.
Thanks Olly,
I have given flint a go -and it is generally much quicker (once it has
loaded the cache -that process still takes minutes). Flint actually seems
tro do some caching whereas quartz just seemed to hit the disc constantly.
Generally I've been running it on a machine with 5G of memory -but it has
to contend with other processes for resources, I have also run it on its
own on a 1G

Nut and PowerWare 5115
Hi everyone,
Been searching like crazy to find an answer to this. I have even read some of the source code but cannot figure this one out.
I have installed nut 2.4.1 on my QNAP 409 Pro. (command: ipkg install nut)
I have configured the ups.conf, upsd.conf and upsd.users.
When i run "upsdrvctl start" I get the following error messages and output.

Nearest Neighbor Algorithm in R -- again.
Several of the methods I use for analyzing large data sets, such as
WinGamma: determining the level of noise in data
Relief-F: estimating the influence of variables
depend on finding the k nearest neighbors of a point in a data frame or
matrix efficiently. (For large data sets it is not feasible to compute
the 'dist' matrix anyway.)

Using special characters
Dear R users
I'm having problems in putting special characters (like 佱, 併, 佺 ) in my plots, as much in titles, as in axis names, as in legend...when I save them as a pdf document. They don't appear...
I don't know if it is because I'm using a linux platform...
The script is the following:

Unsolvable segmentation fault
I cannot use wine with my windows partition. Whenever I try it , I
immediatly get segmentation fault messagens (even when trying to run
notepad.exe). If I modify the ~/.wine/dosdevices/c: simlink then wine
seems to work well (but this is not a good solution, because I want wine
to find programs and dlls in my windows partition). I use kurumin (a

¿DC won't start? "leaked file fd 5:"
Hi Gents,
(apologizes, new here...)
I didn't find any hint on G**gle nor in the Dovecot archieve (maybe due to the lack of a search function :), so:
I installed Doovecot, but can't get it going.
The logfile states:

> mail.err dovecot: auth(default): Panic: Leaked file fd 5: dev 0.10 inode 3
> mail.err dovecot: Auth process died too
