Conceptual problem?
I am just starting to experiment with Icecast2. I have a collection of .wav files that I eventually want to stream out as either ogg or mp3. None of the source clients I found could do this type of re-encoding, maybe I just missed one? So I set out writing a shell script to do it for me. I'm having a real tough time getting things to work so I finally decided that maybe I don't have

m3u list - encode/decode?
I'm now trying to use an m3u formatted list to pass to ezstream rather than stdin. Since all of my audio files are in .wav format, and I have oggenc, I see no reason to decode them before ogg encoding them. Is there a configuration I can use to make this happen? I tried omitting the decode parameter and ezstream complained. Here is what I have now: <ezstream>

Icecast2, ezstream and reverse proxy
Hello, Correct me if I'm wrong, but what you get from Icecast *is* HTTP. Anyway, we use proxying because on our server, some of our clients cannot connect to port 8000 without bypassing their company firewall, and we don't have the possibility to add another public IP. So with Apache, here is what we do : ######################################################################## # #

converting mp3's to aac+ or ogg
Taking the 128 mp3 and re-encoding to flac won't fix any quality issues you may have as they will retain the same 'flaws'. In the end you'll end up with the same quality as you would have seen going from 128 mp3 to q3 ogg. One nice thing about ezstream is that you can specify decoders for multiple formats so if going and ripping all your media again is too daunting a task you

Straming question with ezstream
Thanks all, ezstream works really nice. I notice when I run it like this though: cat ./file.wav|oggenc -|ezstream -c ./ezstream.conf everything works fine until I get to the end of the file then I start getting endless lines of this: ezstream: streamFile(): Error while reading 'stdin': Bad file descriptor Is this because of the way I'm running ezstream or because I'm

Yeah, ezstream is a source client just like ices0, but the manner in which they go about processing files or playlists may differ. I don't know too much about ices0 but in the configuration for ezstream you can either specify a single file to stream or you can point it to an m3u playlist and it will play though that, I'm not sure this is compatible with how you currently queue media.

converting mp3's to aac+ or ogg
For archiving from source media (CD usually) to flac? I typically use EAC either from Windows or Wine as it allows for the most configuration. Off the top of my head I think Sound Juicer will do it for *nix, though there are probably others that work just as well. Chris Dave wrote: > Hi, > Thanks. converting mp3's to aac+ or ogg
Hi, I'll attach my ezstream.xml file to illustrate how ezstream can be "programmed" to do various on-the-fly re-encodings. The basic idea is to treat each <encdec> section as a pair of cmd-line tools: implying a *ix pipe connects the output of the <decode> cmd to the input of the <encode> cmd. The stdout of the <encode> cmd is fed back to ezstream for

Wrong url's from ezstream/icecast
I run two streams from ezstream via Icecast2 - one over http and one over https. In the ezstream config file I have defined two servers (http and https) and the two streams point to the different servers (by their names). But, if I go to the following two url's, Icecast report same (http-) 'streaming url' for both: https://radio.horsens-garage.rocks:8443/

Icecast2, ezstream and reverse proxy
Hello Ezstream is working well locally with Icecast2 on port 8000 on a Debian Wheezy platform. However, I use a reverse proxy (Pound) to pass all requests from the Internet for x.mysite.com to backend localhost:8000 i.e. my Icecast2 server. This works fine, i.e. x.mysite.com brings up the Icecast2 Status page. My problem is with the ezstream xml configuration <url></url> setting which

Therefore im trying to find out is there any easy way out to add plug-in to

Linux source-client that can push AAC to icecast2?
looks like a job for liquidsoap! You can set up a playlist of any kind of audio. It will encode AAC and AAC+ both have small footprints with better audio delivery. I assume you are using mp3 as source because of limited space. The resampled sound will be no better then the mp3 source and in some cases will not be so good. regards Robert On 13/07/20 6:25 am, axeon wrote: > Hi all, I set
