unable to mount centos hard drive
I am considering changing my server from Ubuntu to Centos. I have been tinkering with a box that will eventually become a new server. I am having a problem. This box has two ide drives. Originally I had a Ubuntu desktop installed on hda and then added a Centos server installed on hdb. I wanted to try a different server configuration without overwriting the current install on hdb. With the server

is it safe to have two backed used for the same user?
hi everybody I wonder if it is safe (and wise) to have two passw-user databases for the same one user. I'm thinking, mail to me via pam mail to me at this.domain via ldap whole Maildir would be essentially the same one storage target, I see permissions have to be mangled, available to write for both vmail and actual uid. what do you think? Is it how it's done? regards

I've setup samba to use ldap. I've propogated the directory. I've setup the kerberos realm. I can authen to samba & browse shares via uid/passw held in ldap. I cannot seem to get samba to accept kerb authen instead of uid/passw. Help...... Thanks. Read the #$@^(!*&$!* manual, and about 200 webpages. Scanning news groups, recompiling..... Grrrrr!

Working Passwd Chat for Unix Password Sync on Redhat 6.1
I have been trying to get the password sync working for Redhat 6.1 (samba 2.05a rpm). I got the PDC working this morning, so I'm happy. The FAQ section on the samba site was very helpful. The password sync was the only sticking point. The default passwd chat script didn't work well passwd chat = *New*UNIX*password* %n\n *ReType*new*UNIX*password* %n\n *passw

Hello, I recently installed dovecot1.0rc25 on my RHEL4 system running postfix and wish to use both virtual and system users. Virtuals work fine, but I get authentication failures with system users. I've tried pam, passwd and shadow. Attempting to telnet as system user telnet localhost 143 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1). Escape character is '^]'. *

PuppetDB http web interface user access
Hi All, Has anyone figured out a nice way to restrict user access to puppetdb''s http web interface? Such as a .htaccess method or something similar? I would prefer something along those lines instead of setting up firewall rules. -Zane -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. Valid characters in NT user/pass, wbinfo -a
Samba 2.2.6. I've been looking for (without success) a doc that specifies what characters are valid in an NT login/password. A script will popen '/usr/bin/wbinfo -a MY_DOMAIN+"'+user+'"%"'+passw+'"' where user and passw are untrusted submitted values, so you can understand my concern. I want to keep things tight but not reject valid user/pass

RGoogleDocs stopped working
Hello, Some code using RGoogleDocs, which had been working smoothly since the summer, just stopped working. I know that it worked on November 3rd, but it doesn't work today. I've confirmed that the login and password still work when I log in manually. I've confirmed that the URL gives the same error when I paste it into Firefox. I don't know enough about this web service to figure

We are currently adding Shoutcast title information support to our radio broadcasting/streaming software and would like to do the same for Icecast if this function has been implemented. The Shoutcast server uses a format like this: http://server-ip/admin.cgi?pass=yourpassword&mode=updinfo&song=Artist_and_Title_etc Our software sends this request at each change of track. The server

Convert plugin
Hi, I'm trying to convert users from a sendmail server to a postfix/dovecot server. All works fine but one of the last things is to rescue the messages in /var/mail/<user> on the old server. This seems very straitforward using the convert plugin but with the settings from the wiki, nothing happens when the user logs in. Do I need a private namespace for this as suggested elsewhere

PAM completeness and standardization
Hi, FreeBSD has excellent PAM-support, except for the passwd-command. The passwd-command gained PAM support quite a while ago, but there is a test preventing it from working with PAM. There have been outstanding PR's for this minor issue for years now, I think it's time this one got fixed. People find it frustrating that they can't change their passwords (LDAP etc), like they
