icecast with ices as source
ok, correct me where I'm wrong: - the <sources> tag defines max ices processes can feed icecast - several ices sources are sent to the same icecast process, but on different ports - the icecast process is configured with <relay> <server>127.0.0.1</server> ..... </relay> for each ices instance ? or with mount ? thanks, petre On 29 Sep 2005

reencoding experience
hello anyone of you who has used the reencoding option of ices to bring the stream at a constant bitrate would be kind to share the experience (the impact on resources and, quoting the README file - "...mpglib part of lame (what does the decoding) is rather unstable and will call exit(0) when errors are encountered." - and stability of the stream). thanks, petre -- Petre Bandac -

samba pdc & ldap vs mysql
hallo I have a task to reorganize the network resources of a medium company (~150 computers, 80% windows) which in the current state is very chaotic I was thinking of a system where the users are stored in a single place, from where applications like mail (postfix), squid and even a domain controller can retrieve information from your past experience, which does a better job - ldap or users

another solution would be to reencode mp3 files at the wanted bitrate first, and then serve them via ices to icecast ;) On Wed, 5 Oct 2005 11:43:27 -0600 (MDT) Anno Domini, the honourable Robert Muchnick wrote using one of his keyboards: > On a Linux server (2.4.29) with 3.0GHz PIV and 1GB memory, ices 0.4 > sending to icecast 2.2 on the same machine without re-encoding will > not even

Make Errors with icecast2.3.2 on CentOS5
Hi, I am not sure if this is the right list or not, but I seem to be having problems with the last part of the install of Icecast 2.3.2. Firstly, I'm running CentOS5 and am attempting to install Icecast. When I do make and make install, I get: /usr/lib/libxslt.so: undefined reference to `xmlXPathContextSetCache' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[3]: *** [icecast] Error 1 make[3]:

Mongrel-users Digest, Vol 21, Issue 16
According to the mongrel_cluster.yml file you provided, you''re starting only 14 mongrels, but in your proxy balancer config you have 30 mongrels listed on ports 21000 - 21029. In this scenario, if apache tries to proxy to any ports higher than 21014 then you''ll get a proxy error as a mongrel doesn''t exist on that port. Or am I missing something? -----Original

reencoding experience
On a Linux server (2.4.29) with 3.0GHz PIV and 1GB memory, ices 0.4 sending to icecast 2.2 on the same machine without re-encoding will not even touch the 1 minute load average in the normal kbps/KHz range. With re-encoding, however, the 1 minute load average varies between 0.7 and less than 2.5, which could impact server performance with high listener counts. The files I was testing were not

x86_64 CentOS 5.3 Users - Library Issue
Hello, I need to conduct a little research. Anyone who is running CentOS 5.3 x86_64 please run the following: # yum install libxml2-devel # nm /usr/lib64/libxml2.a | grep xmlXPathContextSetCache If my suspicions are correct, if you run cPanel/WHM you will not see any output and if without cPanel/WHM you'll see something similar to this: 00000000000023a0 T xmlXPathContextSetCache Thanks
