Multiple Winamp/Oddcast processes
Hello Oddsock and interested parties.
Our first multiple stream test broadcast today on one PC and found one
problem with the Oddcast plugin.
We have multiple Winamps installed in separate folders and are loading each
Winamp with a different Windows class name, so that each one may be
controlled with external software via Windows messages.
The problem is that all streams are sending the same

Oddcast not working with WinAmp 5.01
Does Oddcast have any Windows98 dependancies that I might be missing after
doing a reformat?
Can't think of what else might be wrong... =(

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
Something else, Greg. Are you aware of any 3G / 2.5G (EDGE) clients for
mobile phones that support AAC+ streaming? Be it java or symbian based.
Thanks
Alex

AACPlus Shoutcast v1.90
OK, I've organized this.
It's not possible to average 32kb/s stereo with Vorbis using VBR.
Quality -2 stereo proeduces roughly 32 to 38kb/s which is too high for
many modems.
I would have to use ABR, but last I tried that, it utilized too much CPU
for my 950Mhz PC, and oddcast doesn't appear to support that option
anymore.
I've tried AACPlus 32kb/s mono and there is very

Pockect pc phones can use beta player that will play aac+ streams.

For symbian there is this:
http://opensource.nokia.com/projects/s60internetradio/index.html that
will stream aac+
Im a pocket pc person so don't ask me about symbian stuff. ;-)

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
Ok, it's not as bad as I thought. With some investigation and
discussion with a "Major Dude" in the Winamp forums, it appears to be a
bug in Winamp v5.22 with streams that end with the mountpoint extension
.aac. I changed the mountpoint to end with .aacp and now it works fine.

Ross.

Live stream equalizer
I was under the impression that "PCM equalizer" means it only equalizes the
PCM codec, i.e. WAV files. Have you noticed a significant quality
improvement in the EQ for compressed media: MP3, Vorbis, MPC?

well, if I manually update the metadata via oddcast and enter "M? ire
Brennan - I L??thair D??", then check the icecast2 status page, I see :
Current Song: M?ire Brennan - I L?thair D?
which I presume is correct. If I then open this stream with winamp, it
displays as : M - I L?thair D?. If I look at the file properties, the
vorbis winamp plugin tells me there are two comment

Paul Saunders would like it if you can find it for his website, as well
as a download link for Helix for RealOne. I haven't tried that yet.

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I believe that Oddsock is using a Content Type of aacp.
Using a .aac extension with this Content Type may present a conflict.
This might actually be by design.
I will do some further testing with Winamp and report here tomorrow.
I will also double-check with the developer of Winamp for complete
clarification.
FYI, Orban Opticodec-PC allows the use of either Content Type of aac
or aacp. aac is

Newage/World music stream
Just to let everyone know I'm now broadcasting an IceCast2 Ogg Vorbis stream
of my LPFM station courtesy of MediaCast1 (http://www.mediacast1.com) for 10
hours a day Monday to Friday 20:00 - 08:00 GMT.
Newage, World, Folk, Easy Listening format. 40kb/s mono.

AACplus
Hi Ross,
I Agree with your statement.
I think the problem is with bringing the quality to the same level, that
the principal might be registered.
Although sometime back on this list sombody (Hans-Jurgen?) mentioned that it
would be possible to implement AACplus in oddcast because oddcast is free.
Now if that is true, technically it would be possible to use the same
technics (SBR and PS)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but one thing still lacking in the Windows environment is software which can feed ogg files directly to IceCast2 without encoding. This would be very handy for me right now. Anyone working on anything? An Ices2 for Windows would be ideal.

Well, it could be used to provide cheaper hosting by subsidizing the
bandwidth costs with CD sales, all controlled by the host and not the
broadcaster. This would require an

Hi Abhijit
I can't answer your questions but I would be very interested in a fully
working binary of Ices2 for Win32 once it's ready. Thanks for the
effort.

http/cgi metadata updating
I heard that Icecast 2.2 now supports metadata updating via http for vorbis
streams. We are adding http metadata support into our broadcasting software
for the next release. Can someone point me to a link for the syntax, or is
it identical to the Shoutcast syntax?
