ffmpeg2theora icecast ubuntu edgy
Hi, I had the same experience as Jacint and had to downgrade libshout to the dapper version. I also found that I had to downgrade icecast2 from 2.3.1-3 (edgy) to the dapper version 2.3.1-2 in order to actually view the streamed video. Karim

video streaming
Hi, We're planning to launch a video stream. We do not have anything yet (no camera, no computer, no software, only a Linux server that will do the broadcasting with icecast installed). Has anyone ever done such a thing? What hardware do you suggest? What software can be used (both for Linux and Windows on source side). Can Icecast be used for this video streaming purpose (on server side)?

Opus supported source client without transcoding?
Figured I'd join the list since I saw someone else had just popped in looking for exactly the same thing I am (non-transcoding opus streamer for sending multiple .opus files to icecast2). It looks like ices2 would do exactly what I personally need, except for not having been updated to support opus yet. (I chatted on IRC once or twice with someone who it sounds like is interested in adding

Opus supported source client without transcoding?
Okey, thanks. Do you have any idea what I might use for feedings files to oggfwd? I have done a bit of searching, but I can't really find anything. With mpd it's possible to set a file as output with their fifo output plugin: http://www.musicpd.org/doc/user/ch05s06.html#idp58733200 But it seems like it's a PCM stream and not the file as-is. theora streaming problem...
hi everyone! i'm playing around with theora streaming for the linux audio conference 2005 (http://lac.zkm.de). i checked out svn.xiph.org/trunk, built all ogg, vorbis, speex and theora related libs from scratch, then pulled icecast-2.2.0. three issues: [1] icecast runs fine as always, but when i do cat myvideo.ogg | oggfwd myhost 8000 mypasswd /test.ogg, the stream dies after a few

problems streaming theora with oggfwd and icecast2
Hi guys , I used ffmpeg , and ffmpeg2theora , with oggfwd for streaming to the icecast2 streaming server without any problems. But now , only works if I use ffmpeg2theora. I try with one of the latest svn version and one that I consider " stable" because is ok for all my needs , and they don't work. This is the complete shell output ffmpeg -i /home/pierpaolo/Scrivania/31.mpg

Stream image to Icecast
Do anybody know any method where I can stream my images to icecast server using some intermediate png to ogg conversion and then using oggfwd. Basically, I am organizing some workshop. I have already stream video. Slides and presentation stuff can be streamed separately but there I have fight with synchronization slides and video. in long term i will prefer this. Thanks any help ? --

Re: songs on website
Hi Christian, Aaron Wolfe has already sent me a script he used for his online radio. I only need to customize it -- and maybe create a Debian package from it. It knows much more than I need (requests, cancels, more stations, etc.), I'll have to cut out some parts. To answer your questions I use Debian Linux, I'll use ices2 as source, not a media player. Thanks, Jacint Christian

songs on website
Hi all, I'd like to launch a radio station that would show the current, previous and upcoming tracks on a dynamic website. Is there any software around that would do just this task, or do I have to create my own scripts? The source (ices) is on the same computer where the icecast server is. Thanks in advance! Yours, Jacint

libshout-2.3.1 release with Opus support
All, I've made a new release of libshout. Greg Maxwell contributed support for the Opus audio codec (opus-codec.org). Tested with gstreamer and oggfwd as source clients, and playback with Firefox Nightly and 'curl | opusdec'. Thanks, Greg. There are no other updates; in particular webm streaming still requires the caller limit the send rate. The source package is available: -
