SVN Icecast YP problem
Hi everyone:
Thanks to me not setting a max log size in our icecast install, a problem
with YP stuff caused the log to grow to almost 2 gig and fill the
partition. Probably just as well it did, or we might not have noticed.
The sysadmin had to trim the log to get space back, so the bit where it all
started no longer appears. But in the 4 hours of log I still have, the
following line appears

I don't get any error messages regarding WHY my station isn't added to the

Icecast server YP Woes... take 2
I am having problem with icecast2/winamp oddcast dsp/darkice being listed on
dir.xiph.org and dir.oddsock.org. Now I've scanned the mailing list and
found that there was a previous issue, however if I use icecast on Windows
XP it works fine, but not from Fedora Core 1. I've made sure to check my
config files multiple times and looked at the error logs but I still can't

YP listings - how, why, where...
Hi,
My icecast2 config file includes
<directory>
<yp-url>http://www.oddsock.org/cgi-bin/yp-cgi</yp-url>
</directory>
but when I go to the oddsock YP, I can't find our stream anywhere. Am
I doing something wrong, or is something more needed in the config?
Thanks in advance. I'd also be grateful if you'd clarify which YP I
*should* be using! Does it make any

Log says yp updated but does not appear at dir.xiph.org
On Windows XP I am running WinAMP to the Shoutcast server and then using
an Icecast 2.2.0 server as a relay. The idea is to have a single source
stream appear on both Shoutcast and Icecast directories.
The log gives the following lines repeatedly but my server does not show
when I search for it at http://dir.xiph.org and does not appear under
the Icecast Stream Directory on WinAmp.

"preventing YP listings"
I am running icecast 2.2.0 on Windows XP and am trying to get yp listed
so my server will show on the Icecast Stream Directory under WinAMP.
My sense is that the error.log line seen below ending in "preventing YP
listings" indicates a problem on my end but I do not easily see what it
may be.
Any ideas?

How do I list in YP? icecast2 ices0
I thought the YP code was going to be fixed to use less resources so it
could be used with other stream formats. It seems to be taking a long
time.
As it is now, Icecast2 is not a good solution for those wanting to be on
a popular directory. I am forced to recommend using Shoutcast to my
clients so they can get onto a popular directory. I would prefer to
recommend Icecast2.

solution for YP problem
I wanted to let folks know that I had a problem with
unreliable, and mostly dysfunctional listing of a server's
mounts on YP directories. This server has a few dozen mounts.
If all the relays and sources were connected, YP wouldn't
work; if only some were connected, YP would start working. I
had to increase the <yp-url-timeout> for all the <yp-url>'s to
a much larger

YP listings in version 2.5 beta
Hi,
I apologise if this has been raised before. I’m finding that with the below settings enabled in my icecast.xml file, YP directory listings work for me when using icecast 2.4.4 but listings aren’t working for me with the same config settings in version 2.5.

Icecast's YP bugs
Ok I've been discovering many bugs in Icecast's YP implementation..
The most serious of which is, if a YP server is rejecting a stream the
server has a memory leak which, as it continues to re-try to publish
it's rejected streams, grows until the server segfaults. On our server,
for instance, we're relaying shoutcast streams (which does not relay the
stream name and other

Icecast spawns processes when unable to contact YP
Hi:
For the past few hours, www.oddsock.org/yp.cgi has been uncontactable.
When I start the icecast server, it seems to perform very badly while
trying to contact the YP server. After a couple of minutes, the streaming
begins to work, but it starts spawning processes at the rate of a couple a
minute. the following also starts appearing in the server log:

New YP listing code in icecast2
I have just committed this code to CVS, and here is more information about
it for those interested :
- the spec that I went off of for the protocol can be found here ->
http://www.oddsock.org/icecast2yp/spec.html
- since icecast2 now needs to potentially connect out to yp servers for
communication, libcurl has been added as a dependency...I used curl 7.9.8...
- I also have currently

YP submission / cURL issue. (icecast 2.0.1 / gentoo)
Odd:
I just pulled SVN and compiled.. Wonderful new logging code, btw!
Now, why in the WORLD would the resolution be failling?! nsswitch.conf /
resolv.conf / hosts is all fine.. *shrug*
I can obviously put IPs instead of hosts in the URLs, however things still
fail..

I hope so :)
I'm not too good with C or anything like that, so the sourcecode would
probably be a bit confusing.
