Asking for help
Sirs, I am a newbe jumping to advance routing and traffic control. I work for one of the leading isp in kingdom of Nepal. My goal is to do bandwidth management for our lease line customer so that they could use their allocated bandwidth only. Bgp and ospf is implemented as a routing protocol. All routers are cisco routers. There are about 16 routers some are with highly danced ports. No Linux box

low bandwidth broadcasting using ices2
Is there any way to bring the bitrate in ices2 down below 32 kbps? I'm setting up a demo for someone of how to use linux to do net radio broadcasting. The setup I'm thinking of is to use ardour plus jack to mix two (maybe more) input sources (live audio and recorded tracks/programmes), then send the mixed audio to ices2 for streaming to icecast2, using the jackified version of ices2. Question from XM Radio
Hi, > You can try the Ogg DirectShow filter to get Windows support for Speex: > http://www.illiminable.com/ogg/ if you wait a little longer, I am trying to provide speex support for the ffmpeg project (www.ffmpeg.org). It does encode/decode to/from avi and wav, a support for ogg has not been done, and my question is, should it be necessary? I don't really like ogg in first place..

Multiple bitrates from live source
What is the best way to set up multiple streams, at multiple bitrates, from the same line-input audio source? I currently offer a 96 Kbps stream of the line-input of a D-Link DSB-R100 radio tuner. I'd like to offer a 32 Kbps stream as well, for 56K modem users. Should I run multiple copies of liveice on the machine with the soundcard? Or should I have ices reencode the 96 Kbps stream down

Event Logging in Samba 4
Hi, I have configured samba 4 as a Domain Controller and its working fine. But there is one problem with event logs in samba4. I found this samba wiki page that explain how to setup event logs in samba. Following is the link of that page. "http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Event_Logging" The problem I came up is when I add "eventlog list" line to smb.conf and restart, it

ices0.4: icecast mp3 stream for source ?
Hello together, we would like to use IceCast 2.3.1 as a mp3 streamer source for reencoding several sources of ices 0.4. It is working perfectly already by using an mp3 playlist with local stored mp3s. But our plan is to upload an 160 kbps stream and want ices 0.4 to reencode to 96, 56 and 32 kbps. Uploading 1 getting 4 streams. We are streaming with SAM Broadcaster 2. Icecast runs on SuSE 9.3

Hardware Requirement & Setup
Dear All, We are currently using a MESEI 100D PABX system which we are currently leasing from a local telco for 60 months. Part of the restrictions in the lease is that we are not allowed to install a PSTN line from another telco. We would like to maximize the use of third-party PSTN lines by installing them to the PBX system but the restriction is holding our freedom. Our lease agreement

Icecast error
what would be the the most likely cause of this error message? Too many errors ( Client not accepting fast enough ) The user is on a VERY fast connection ( 2300 kbps down / 800 kbps up ) and is getting disconnected every 4 minutes from my Icecast server. ICECAST CONFIG
Hello all reading this. I am new to the list as a way to learn a few things about IceCast and I am fuzzy on. I am not a total noob to media, or serving it. I have even developed, setup configured, a media server, or two, and many many dedicated, or otherwise hosting servers, and by either blind luck and chance found them to actually work once I was done. I am Scott, am in the process of building

Low-bitrate audio encode/stream application
I am totally new to icecast, and would appreciate a pointer in the right direction. My application is to encode audio (at the linux server) at a low bit rate, say ~16 kbps, for transmission to a decoder at another location. The audio source will be bandlimited (basically voice grade circuit such as you'd find in a telephone application.) The decoder end (connected via a TCP/IP session)

Complete set of tools for Icecast
We are switching from Windows Media to Icecast. I want to get as close to open source as possible. That means that I need the following open-source items: Player for Windows (not Winamp if possible - it's now owned by AOL.) Player for Mac Player for Linux We will also be podcasting, so that means our encoding needs to be compatible with the Apple iPod. Here's what it supports: MP3
