hxplay versus realplay
Interesting. I downloaded and installed both HelixPlayer-0.4.0.187-20040615.i586.rpm and RealPlayer-0.4.0.186-20040615.i586.rpm on my Mandrake 10.0 system. With hxplay, the theora sample video, Mixtape.small.ogg, played as well as it does with mplayer 1.0pre4, which is reasonably well. But when I tried to watch it with realplay, the program choked and died. Also, when I tried to watch

Send admin kill request to server
Hi Fred, I am understand the requirements already a little bit better. What I have to Do is a HTTP GET with a Basic Authorization in the header. I have tested it with 'Postman' and it works fine with Icecast. But I have to do it with Javascript or JQuery. Therefore curl doesn't help me. I try to use Ajax for that, but something goes wrong. If I do it without Autorization, I got

Icecast in Macromedia Flash
Hello everybody, This topic was already published in the icecast development list but it did not interest many people there because it is related to Macromedia Flash and apparently all the development team is running Linux PPC (the flash plugin is not available for Linux PPC). For this reason, I was advised to transfer this topic to this regular icecast list. Sorry for those who subscribed to both

HTTP Basic Auth alternative
Hello, Is HTTP basic authentication the only way for icecast to perform authentication ? With a link like http://username:password at example.com:8000/mystream (HTTP basic authentication) it has a number of problems regarding browsers. Chrome for security reasons does not follow the link and shows a popup asking to enter the credentials but this destroys user experience for a site with a

Hey there, cool product, my family and i are wanting to build a kids streaming educational radio station. This is the perfect thing for it. i did the install (Arch Linux) and apparently i am serving correctly. i built a test play list with four tracks into a file mystream.ogg.m3u when i go on my computer and go to localhost:8000/mystream.ogg.m3u everything works great. but when i go to the

m3u - mine type
Hi icecast, I'm having a "bizarre" problem with the m3u extension. I read somewhere to add ".m3u" in a link on a web page to make winamp load and play the stream. It works very fine, but ONLY in my LAN. When I call http://192.168.1.2:8002/status.xsl, i got the "click here to listen" which is link to the moint point + .m3u (/MyStream.ogg.m3u) I click, winamp load

ices & savefile
Apologies for asking so many questions - hope this isn't in the FAQ somewhere!? I would like to use the <savefile> option in ices but am wondering how to specify a unique filename to be created each time ices is executed so the previous savefile is not overwritten? eg, is there a way to specify: <savefile>mystream-%time-%date.ogg</savefile> that would for example create a

Send admin kill request to server
Hi everybody, finally I found a solution! First, Icecast requires a Basic Authorization, which has to provide via a header. But this can't be done via JavaScript or JQuery, due the security features of the browsers. For more detail information see https://stackoverflow.com/questions/75463305/difference-basic-authorization- between-postman-and-jquery-ajax/75493285#75493285. Thanks for

Hot Topic: Icecast in Macromedia Flash
Hi everybody, I am trying to build an mp3 player in Macromedia Flash that would work with Icecast. Using Flash as a mp3 player instead of Winamp, XMMS,. could democratize Icecast because Flash is cross-platform/cross-browser, it is installed on almost every computer connected to the internet and it will be embedded into a webpage. This is not fully correct. It depends on the configuration and may change with different versions of the server. An important note here, and to be honest the main reason why I

Good Morning Philipp, that make be a good point. But it would be very helpful, if in the Icecast documentation would be very clear defined, which kind of authorization is required for which server version. At least, I could not find anything! -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- Von: Icecast [mailto:icecast-bounces at xiph.org] Im Auftrag von Philipp Schafft Gesendet: Samstag, 18. Februar 2023

hello everyone! first of all, thanks to all software authors and documentation writers for a great piece of work ! i'm test-driving an icecast2 relay on a rather crappy network connection. to hammer on it, i was listening to the stream with xmms while doing a couple of parallel wget -O - http://..mystream 2&>1 >/dev/null from another machine. however, as few as 5 parallel

Update metadata via URL?
Yeah just use the same URL he posted but leave out the .ogg for the mount so it looks like this. http://user:pass@server.com:8000/admin/metadata?mount=/mystream&mode=updinfo&song=whatever ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ross Levis" <ross@stationplaylist.com> To: <icecast@xiph.org> Sent: Friday, July 08, 2005 7:55 PM Subject: Re: [Icecast] Update metadata via
