RF to IP bridge
I wanted to see if there was anything reasonable in price out there yet that
performed an RF to IP bridge via asterisk. What I mean by this is callers
from PSTN can be patched to a UHF/VHF radio and vis-?-vis. I know there is
an option available for the Avaya systems but it?s a little out of the price
range I?m looking for (~$200/channel). Has anyone out there found a stable
way to do this?

Someone could help me on it? And what kind of modules I can set up?
Best Regards.

reencoding experience
hello
anyone of you who has used the reencoding option of ices to bring the
stream at a constant bitrate would be kind to share the experience (the
impact on resources and, quoting the README file -
"...mpglib part of lame (what does the decoding) is rather unstable and
will call exit(0) when errors are encountered." - and stability of the
stream).
thanks,
petre

static file streaming
Hi,
I have installed the Icecast2 on my Ubuntu Linux and I was not able to
figure out how I could stream static mp3 files.
Can anybody help me? What should I do to do this?
I put the mp3 file in the webroot and I tried to retrieve it with the "
http://host:port/try.mp3" URL but I could only download it (as a whole)
but not as a streamed media.
Do I have to convert the mp3 to another

static file streaming
Hi All,
Maybe I do something completely wrong and I make some trivial mistakes but
the static streaming doesn't work for me.
I describe my setup.
Thanks,
Ivan
- I try to reach the following URLs but neither of them worked:
http://my.server.hu/try.mp3
http://my.server.hu/try.mp3.m3u
http://my.server.hu/list.m3u
- The /usr/share/icecast2/web directory contains the following files:

Trouble compiling Icecast 2.3.1
Hi,
Sorry if this has been posted about before.
I'm trying to upgrade my personal Icecast from some ancient pre-release CVS
version, and I've hit trouble:
gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -Wall -ffast-math -fsigned-char
-I/usr/local/include -I/usr/local/include/libxml2 -pthread -g -O2 -c `test
-f 'main.c' || echo './'`main.c

Icecast/ices problem
Thanks for the suggestion. It turns out that debug for ices told me
nothing but debug for icecast 2.2.0 showed that it was terminating the
source at the same place in the playlist, apparently due to a lack of
trailing metadata in one particular file -- icecast saw it as end of
stream.
After checking code updates on the TRAC system, I installed the kh branch
of icecast (kh13) and this seems

RES: Icecast Installation
Tks for you answer Robert,
It's my first time with IceCast for Linux and if possible I would like to
take a look in your configuration files or a how-to.
Tks.

reencoding experience
another solution would be to reencode mp3 files at the wanted bitrate
first, and then serve them via ices to icecast ;)

Can't access remote server
RedHat 9, samba-2.2.7a-8.9.0. Fresh install. No iptables or any firewall
settings.
I can access my server fine locally with smbclient, but using smbclient from
a machine located in a network I get this:
[kwang@gorgon kwang]$ smbclient //webdev.ic2.org/home
added interface ip=24.243.211.67 bcast=24.243.223.255 nmask=255.255.240.0
added interface ip=192.168.0.2 bcast=192.168.0.255

streaming providers
hi,
I am in search of a provider that can supply services for encoding. I
need some storage space (min 500MB for mp3 files) + the ability to run a
command line encoder to stream these files, + continous 64kbps out going
traffic.
Anyone know of a service provider that offers this at a competitive rate?

I'm trying to get icecast 2.3.1 compiled on a slackware 10.0 box. I've
successfully compiled the libshout libraries. Now this is what I got

relay icecast to shoutcast
thanks geoff - Yes, I had disabled the <alias source="/"
dest="/status.xsl"/> in the config.
To answer your question: If the mountpoint is set to "radio.mp3" and the
host tag is set for a local broadcast. ie.:
<hostname>localhost</hostname> (for testing purposes), this is what
happens when I enter "http://localhost:7000/" into a browser:

New Forum
How do people feel about eliminating the list serv in favor of the forum?
Or limiting the list serv to news?
I have one vendor I work with that has a knowledgebase, a forum, and two
mailing lists - with much overlap of topics. It is truly enough to drive
you totally crazy.
I'm not suggesting anything. Just bringing it up.
