RFC: python-shout-python rpm package
Hi, I adapted Sebastien Corot's SuSe SRPM to Fedora Core 4: ftp://infogerance.locataire-serveur.info/fedora/SRPMS/python-shout-python-0.2-2.src.rpm May be some has comments on it. I CC'd the initial packager. If you just want the binaries, you can use my repository. Just add this repo: [rktmb] name= RKTMB repository mixed baseurl=ftp://infogerance.locataire-serveur.info/fedora

Slow icecast loopback
There is no Debian stable package and our radio is in production... It's not a good idea to switch without a test phase and I don't think that it's going to correct the problem. Testing against 1.8.4
So apparently 1.8.4 is soon forthcoming. We need testing against it. Could someone help out with that? I believe Ara already checked into some of the issues, do you know if those are resolved, Ara? -- David Heinemeier Hansson http://www.loudthinking.com -- Broadcasting Brain http://www.basecamphq.com -- Online project management http://www.backpackit.com -- Personal information manager

Debian packages: icecast2, libshout, ices2
Hello everyone, I've been maintaining Debian packages (for sid) of icecast2, libshout, and ices2 for several months now; my production servers run Debian, and these packages make using icecast on them even more easily manageable. They've been quite solid and reliable in all of the situations I've encountered, and I've had nothing but positive reports from a couple of testers.

Ogg streams on MacOSX
This comes from the Indymedia global audio list. How about setting up a software page on icecast.org with a list of players that work properly? Many players on vorbis.com will only play files on a hard drive, not streaming files, such a list would be very helpful towards promoting Ogg as a useful streaming format. ----- Forwarded message from nathaniel t <vsea75@hotmail.com> ----- The

YP submission / cURL issue. (icecast 2.0.1 / gentoo)
DNS for vhosts makes total sense, duh! :) Running without chroot, as root, changing to nobody, and YP works just fine.. If I come up with a nice howto / rundown of the chroot stuff, I'll get it on the list. Odd: Did you see the posts about the Icecast+win32 crashing w/ OddCast 2.0.10 and 2.0.13? Seems stable on 2.0.1-release and SVN on Linux but.. I'm going to do my research and get

Starting Icecast as a service on CentOS
Hi All, I've recently upgraded my hosting to a VPS running CentOS. I'm trying to configure the VPS to launch Icecast as a service so that Icecast starts if the virtual server reboots, or Icecast stops running. I've found several scripts out there to place in my init.d folder, but nothing seems to work for me as of yet. Here is my Icecast2 setup: Location=/usr/local/bin

PDF Compression
Hi, I am generating a large number of graphs with pdf() and incorporating them in pdf document using pdflatex. According to the pdf() help: 'pdf' writes uncompressed PDF. It is primarily intended for producing PDF graphics for inclusion in other documents, and PDF-includers such as 'pdftex' are usually able to handle .compression. But pdflatex incorporates the R

Manipulating the "..." args.
Hi, foo<-x(...) { # Need to remove bad characters from string arguments "..." # here. # Pass on the modified string arguments. bar(...) } I need to modify string arguments passed in to function foo as "..." and then pass the modified arguments on to function bar. Is there a way to access the contents of "..." for in-place modification? I know I can

Generating Reports from R.
Hi, I have a non-interactive R script that currently produces various graphs in png or pdf format. I need to program the script to combine the graphs with various pages of textual information, including some in tabular format, into an output report in pdf or html format. What is the recommended way of doing this? Regards, David Keegan. --

The icecast mount stuff I would have thought would be pretty self-explanatory in the config file. They're used to do stuff that's an exception to the general stuff defined above.. As for the ices

SMBMount and backup application
I would like some advice. I am considering the best way to restructure my backup scheme on my NT network. I would like to see if it would be possible/feasible to use cron, smbmount, some SCSI tape drives, and some type of archive tool to backup my NT shares to a RedHat box using Samba. What do all of you do out there? I would envision a situation where each night a script is run by cron that

Icecast and Ices2 manual pages
Hello everyone, In the process of packaging Icecast and Ices2 for Debian, it was necessary for me to write a set of minimal manual pages to satisfy policy requirements. Since I would be adding them to CVS as part of the debian/ directories anyway, I thought I would present them here, so they could perhaps be integrated with the other forms of packaging. They are very simple but perhaps someone
