is there a way to insert 'description' for a relayed stream?
Hi,
When icecast2-server is relaying a non-icecast feed, is there any
way to add 'description' data to it?
This is a minor quibble but I don't see a way around this.
As my charts & discussion at Peercast.org's forum shows (pointed to
in my earlier posts here), we had to put sc_serv at the 'hub' of
the netcast feedpoint, mainly so we'd only encode once but

can't access admin webpages with N-1 listeners active
Hi,
Stumbled into a problem with icecast-2.3.1 (a recent
daily svn snapshot).
We have 6 spec'd in the xml for the (one and only)
mountpt's <mount/max-listeners>. The <limit/clients>
near the top of the xml is also set to 6 (as seen on the
sample xml dists).
When we get up to N-1 listeners, we cannot access the
admin webpages from localhost or anywhere-else-host.

libshout: Streaming MPEG Audio Layer 2
Hi,
I'm not anywhere near an expert, but I had successfully used
Darkice, TwoLame, and Icast231 to netcast a mp2 stream. If it
will help, here is a snip from the related area of my darkice.cfg:
[icecast2-1]
format = mp2
bitrateMode = cbr
bitrate = 384
quality = 1.0
server = 127.0.0.1
port = 32710
password = (duh!)

Register into shoutcast directory
Hello,
Icecast is a great project but there is one big problem left ! We can't
register into shoutcast directory which is the mosted used radio
directory in the world. So this realy difficult to find more listeners...
After many search, I was thinking that the only way to get our radio
into shoutcast directory was to setup a shoutcast relay using our
icecast server. Unfortunatly it seams

I had to add a <mount>...</mount> section matching the mountpoint's

Greets all sorry for the posting but this one has me confused. I
compiled Zaptel and am
experiencing something strange. I followed the instructions on
README.udevs to the tee,
set permissions, etc. and I'm confused as to what gives. Zaptel
compiled without a

DAAP maybe? (Re: multichannel streaming)
Hi,
Would DAAP help somehow?
Digital Audio Access Protocol
<http://www.opendaap.org/>
I do believe since it's based on iTunes, and one can "scrub" a
properly networked file with iTunes, that it's DAAP actually
includes this feature. But both ends must be using this protocol.
(iTunes by itself can only share playlists with your intra-net
shared machines. It is

MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Did you really see meta-data? Or did it show data from the playlist-
file? Or did you see the data (name and genre) provided in the http-
header upon connect?
E.g.:
http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutcast-
playlist.pls?rn=4219&file=filename.pls
Shows "CLUB 977 The 80s Channel (HIGH BANDWIDTH)" in WinAmp. But this
is due to the "title" set in the .pls and/or provided in

Hi Stephan,
I am talking about the meta-data: Artist - Song. It's weird because you are
the second person on the list who doesn't get it working in Real... I just
tried again with "BEK_dns" and "Radio Alcanzando Naciones" the 2 first MP3
radios I found in the stream directory and everything worked perfectly for
Real (but not for WMP).
In RealPlayer, I clicked

MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Hi Everybody,
It works with Peercast because Peercast receives the headers from Icecast2
and sends its own headers back to the client (Winamp, WMP, Real...).
Remember that Peercast is a client AND a server... I guess Peercast doesn't
send back the headers in the same way than Icecast2. Maybe Peercast doesn't
use ICY/X-audiocast.
Talking about Real (v9.0 and 10), I already got the

Maybe it works with WinAmp because peercast is received via a plugin
that supports this?
http://www.peercast.org/download.php
WinAmp 2.x/5.x:
- Self-extracting installer
- Installs WinAmp plugin client
- Enables peercast:// links
- Free. No adware/spyware
Allan, I assume you have a plugin installed for listening to
peercast?

Hi, I've been running Icecast on my server for over five months now and am
having lots of problems with it. I must have pulled out half of my hair on
this product, mostly due to lack of support. (I mean, have you ever gotten
an answer to your question at icecast.org?) I've tried it all: sc_serv,
Icecast, shout, ices, streamcast, liveice. I could greatly use any help.
I am using the

PeerCast development...
I know this isn't exactly concerning Icecast, but PeerCast shares some
similarities nonetheless...
Is there anyone who would be willing/capable to code a streamlined Ogg Vorbis
decoder for inclusion with the PeerCast client? The only thing preventing Ogg
Vorbis from wide use is the many software players that still don't support it
(Real, WiMP, MMJB). Since people have to download
