Icecast 2.3 RC1 Announcement
Well, I've got it installed, and configured with several fallback-to-file mounts. I don't actually have any source clients connecting to it, but even so, the fallback-to-file mounts seem to work great. I'm very excited about this functionality since I've been running ezstream in the past which has given me all sorts of problems, most of which I've mentioned on this list.

Icecast 2.3 RC1 Announcement
Just wanted to let everyone know that we also welcome reports such as "everything works as expected" too. It's hard for us to gauge the quality of the release unless we hear both good and bad reports... thanks. oddsock At 02:29 PM 8/21/2005, you wrote: >Ok folks, we are getting ready for version 2.3 of icecast and have built >an RC1 distribution. Icecast relay with backup - loops backup for too long
My listeners connect to a publicly accessible Icecast server with the config below. Between broadcasts it uses a fallback mp3, which loops. During broadcasts it relays from a local Icecast server that I broadcast to (config also below). I am aiming for approx 30-45 seconds buffering, as the connection from public to local icecast server is 'less than ideal'. The set up is working fine

playlist streaming
is it true it's not possible to start or stop indvidual streams using icecast2+icegenerator(liveice,ezstream) combination? i've tried mp3 directory streaming as well as playlist streaming - it works, but with no possibility to see full mp3 file listing and play control (like choosing a song, starting, stopping play). Icecast can't even diferentiate /dev/dsp input from playlist input.

Playing a recorded mp3 file like a livestream
Hi, For question 3, I think there is ezstream (https://icecast.org/ezstream/) which can to an endless loop like you wish. All files should (actually must) be encoded in the format of your stream. Also I would setup the mpuntpoints in a row: - live mp with fallback to ezstream mp - ezstream mp with fallback to static file So if ezstream fails you deliver the static file. Most notable in your

schedule a fallback and / 2 sources streaming at 1 server ???
Hi everyone. I was wondering if it is possible to schedule a fallback. I know there is the option when no source is streaming then icecast server falls back to another mount point. So my question is if it is possible to schedule some sort of fallback to another mount point whenever i want to. Let me give you an example: source 1 is streaming to server from 16:00 until 16:59 at mount point 1.

Stream drops during handoff. Suggestions?
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I've searched high and low for the last couple days for an answer. An Internet radio station I DJ for is using Shoutcast and MP3, but we are considering moving to an Icecast/Ogg Vorbis combination instead. We work in 3-hour shifts. When we hand off, the DJ on-stream stops teh encoder, shouts "go" on IRC, and the DJ in line starts his

No Duplicate Users - Patch
I'd like to commit the following patch which adds a new option to the htpasswd client authenticator. This option <option name="allow_duplicate_users"> specifies wether or not the same username can connect to a mountpoint more than once. This is pretty much a required feature for any decent use of the listener authentication capabilities of icecast. thoughts ? comments ?

overlaying prerecorded content over a live stream...
Hello everyone! I've been looking into using icecast to help get some terrestrial radio stations into Internet broadcasting. One of their requirements is that they have the ability to overlay internet-only content over the regional commercials that they run during their programming - ie, during breaks between their normal programming, they don't want ads from their advertisers

eztream broken pipe
I discovered an interesting problem with ezstream. I'm using version 1.2. I see 2 is listed on the website but appears to be a broken link. Otherwise I'd try it to see if it exhibits the same problem. I'm using ezstream as a fallback mount for a radio station. It plays a 30 second ogg file over and over. The ogg file is just a 5 second message with 25 seconds of silence

new utility - ezstream
Just wanted to let everyone know that I've released a new streaming utility called (appropriately enough) ezstream. ezstream will read in mp3/vorbis files and send them (without reencoding) to an icecast2 server. It can also take in input from stdin. We used to have a utility like this (called shout) but shout had horrible timing issues and didn't work well at all. This version
