overlaying prerecorded content over a live stream...
Hello everyone!
I've been looking into using icecast to help get some terrestrial
radio stations into Internet broadcasting. One of their requirements
is that they have the ability to overlay internet-only content over
the regional commercials that they run during their programming - ie,
during breaks between their normal programming, they don't want ads
from their advertisers

a few more questions...
Hello everyone,
I sent the last email prematurely - I had a few more questions. I
don't wish to start a holy war here, but are there certain OSs /
Distros that are preferred for running very busy icecast servers?
We're a Solaris shop currently, but don't mind using linux or BSD if
that would make things easier.
I see there is a Fedora Core RPM on the icecast page - does that

WMP blues :^(
Hello Everybody,
I'm having the strangest problem getting WMP 10 to stream from my
icecast server.
I'm currently serving two streams - one is a 128kbit/s mp3 stream,
the other is a 32kbit/s mp3 stream
Even when explicitly declaring the stream type to be http in
icecast.xml , the 32kbit/s stream buffers *VERY* slowly (it takes
about 3-5 min) in WMP before finally playing.

Installing Ices on OSX 10.4.2
Hello,
I have been unable to install Ices2 on the latest version of Tiger. I
have tried two methods: one using DarwinPorts to install, and the other
grabbing the source and building it myself. Both seem to exit
compilation with the same or similar errors that I don't understand. I
am not a C hacker, so I won't be able to solve this myself. All the
supporting libs installed just fine

I have an opensolaris server running with a raidz zfs pool with almost 1TB of storage. This is intended to be a central fileserver via samba and ftp for all sorts of purposes. I also want to use it to backup my XP laptop. I am having trouble finding out how I can setup solaris to allow my XP machine to backup on a regular schedule, do I look for programs for XP or does solaris have some built in

Cannot build ices0/libshout2 on Mac OSX 10.4.2
Hi -
I'm rebuilding my OSX system and I can't get ices0 to build - or to be
more exact, can't get libshout2 to build.
I started by using DarwinPorts, and icecast2 & libogg & libvorbis
seemed to build OK. The install of ices0 then gave up at the libshout2
config stage with output like this:
[...]

Mac OSX Tiger 10.4.2 SMB
Hi Guys and girls,
I'm having exactly the same error as this person in the post below had.
Only differences is we are running Slackware 10.1 with Samba 3.0.14a, and
the Mac connecting is using 10.4.2
Does anyone know of a work around, or a solution to the problem?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Fw: Mac OSX Tiger 10.4.2 SMB
Hi Guys,
Can anyone offer me any assistance at all with the query below.
Even perhaps if there is some "how to" somewhere to get Tiger pcs to join a domain.
I really need to get this problem solved, and I have searched and searched and haven't found anything yet.
Thanks!

new utility - ezstream
Just wanted to let everyone know that I've released a new streaming utility
called (appropriately enough) ezstream.
ezstream will read in mp3/vorbis files and send them (without reencoding)
to an icecast2 server. It can also take in input from stdin. We used to
have a utility like this (called shout) but shout had horrible timing
issues and didn't work well at all. This version

Thanks for your work on this oddsock. It's a major feature that's been
missing from the Win32 environment. I presume you will be offering a Win32
binary on your site at some stage.

Bus error in ./script/console with postgres (ext. library)
Is there some special magic that needs to be performed so that the
C-based postgres extension library works with the Rails console?
I have installed the postgres extension library (replacing the pure Ruby
version: postgres-pr) from <http://ruby.scripting.ca/postgres/>
Everything works great from WEBrick, but as soon as I fire up the
console and try to use it, I get a bus error:
