Ices crashes all of a sudden: EROR input-oss/oss_read Error reading from audio device: Input/output error
It was kind of working for a while but I could not hear the stream but it was running. I started messing with alsamixer and now it crashes. I see the error but I don't know how to fix it. ices-oss-xml: (alsa is the same just a different input module) <?xml version="1.0"?> <ices> <!-- run in background --> <background>0</background>

Asterisk throws error using the alsa module
Hello, I can't get the sound over alsa to work with Asterisk. My current version is 1.4.21.2~dfsg-3 running on debian stable. All settings are the default ones with exception of: /etc/asterisk/modules.conf: load => chan_alsa.so noload => chan_oss.so /etc/asterisk/alsa.conf: input_device=default output_device=default asterisk is started up and doesn't complain about alsa in

usb - audio asterisk crashes
I am using usb-audio for Console/Dsp with asterisk. it is crashing 1.4.21 and also svn. During the brief times its working the audio is choppy but understandable. I have used aplay and arecord at the same time on the same wave file and they work fine every time and I have done it MANY times. Asterisk failes after 1 or 2 times. Any ideas on something I can try? * John McHarry (jmcharry@whqr.org) écrivait : > Have you tried aumix from the command line? I have used it in RH 9 and > Fedora, although not with ices. Yes, I did : in fact, aumix from the command line behaves exactly like the KMix GUI : when I change the PCM or Mic level with aumix, KMix shows the new settings. But even with aumix set to the good values (PCM to 100%), ices get no sound.

where does linein writes to
I have tried broadcasting from both SuSE Linux and Slackware and with various programs being the last one Tim`s Mixice (which is a perl script that works along with a program called catdsp). Looking at the source I saw that this programs, both of them, try to open /dev/dsp. Now, my question is if /dev/dsp is the standard device for the line-in of the audio card? I have tried, as suggested in

No sound, no information why, where to start?
Wine and spotify used to work. Now it doesn't, and I don't know why. Main problem is that Wine doesn't give any information back regarding why audio fails, only that it fails. When using winecfg, opening the Audio tag, choosing Alsa Driver and pressing "Test sound", a pop up reports "Audio test failed!". Nothing more. Choosing OSS, switching to emulation, same

Skype on CentOS 5 - my microphone settings are incorrect
Note: The Wiki for Skype needs a tiny update. http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Skype It's not a Beta now. Last night, I downloaded and installed skype-2.0.0.63-centos.i586.rpm The Skype web site calls this a "Gold" release. I'm having the same problem I had when I tried to use the Skype Beta. It's not picking up audio from the microphone. The hardware works fine, when I'm

alsamixer and multiple audio cards
When I run kmix, there is a drop-down box in the upper right corner that lets me choose the audio device that kmix will be adjusting. If, however, I try to use alsamixer instead of kmix, there is only one (default) device that I can adjust. How can I tell to alsamixer that I want to adjust the volume of another card? And yes, this is related to my system-config-soundcard question... :-) Best,

Ices2 socket error
Hello, recently I have tried to use Ices2 to encode my live (line-in) audio and I can't get rid of this error message: [2003-01-17 04:37:39] EROR stream/ices_instance_stream Failed initial connect to 147.32.127.199:8000 (Unknown error) I have checked all the settings on the server and in the ices-live.xml, but it's still the same. /dev/dsp and /dev/mixer seems to be set up correctly.
