This couldn't possibly be icecast's fault - icecast itself doesn't,
and can't, do any processing of audio.
Given that it happens with

Re: songs on website
Hi Christian,
Aaron Wolfe has already sent me a script he used for his online radio. I only need to customize it -- and maybe create a Debian package from it. It knows much more than I need (requests, cancels, more stations, etc.), I'll have to cut out some parts.
To answer your questions I use Debian Linux, I'll use ices2 as source, not a media player.
Thanks,
Jacint

Plugin Status
Hello,
I have been using flac for some time and it works really great for me. I have
tried the plugins for winamp2 and xmms and noticed that it does display the
vorbis tags but you cannot edit them yet. It would also be cool to show some
infos like md5sum, numbers of frames etc. in the plugin status window. Are
these features under development or not very high priority?

Vorbis Players for Windows
Hi,
I've recently put a few of my tracks online (http://livenraw.npfdd.ch/
for those interested; it's a solo-rock-performance by me) and of course
I've used Vorbis for this.
Now I had several reports on the topic "How do I play these ogg-things
on Windows?". I've linked to http://www.vorbis.com/ but apparently this
is not easy enough.
One of my friends even told me he

Several Questions about Ices2 & icecast2
Hi,
i have got a linux debian woody box with icecast2 and ices2 on it. I'm
running a 24/7 stream with a huge playlist on my server, but I've got some
questions about it:
1. Is it possible, that ices updates Metadata (Artist - Track) to the
icecast Server in playlist mode?
2. Is there any possibility of controlling ices2 by a webinterface with
functions like nextrack, stop and play,

songs on website
Hi all,
I'd like to launch a radio station that would show the current, previous
and upcoming tracks on a dynamic website.
Is there any software around that would do just this task, or do I have
to create my own scripts?
The source (ices) is on the same computer where the icecast server is.
Thanks in advance!
Yours,
Jacint

Re: songs on website
Jacint,
Could you please keep me updated on your progress, I have tried to get the
song info on our web page using FTP. But don't like this way!
So I am anxious to see and learn!
Kind regards RoN

Icecast2 and IceS2 client problem
Dear All:
I have Icecast2 and IceS2 successfully built and installed on a Debian 3.0
system. After tinkering with the config files, both applications are running
and seem to be talking to each other without problem. However, when I try to
connect with a client, I run into problems: with Winamp 2.8, I get an [HTTP/1.0
200 OK] message, but then the stream is apparently dropped before buffering.

Icecast 2.2.0 and Ices2: no audio
Folks:
I'm trying to set up a streaming server under Fedora Core 2 using Icecast
2.2.0. Everything compiles; everything runs. There are no indications of a
problem in any of the log files.
When I look at http://192.168.0.128:8000/status.xsl, everything looks ok.
But when I click on "Click to listen", it brings up xmms, but there's no
indication of audio, and xmms shows a bit

flac-1.0.3_beta released
I have just released a source distribution which is the
candidate for the 1.0.3 release. At this time I would
ask anyone who is willing to help test it to do the
following:
1. download the tarball and unzip it:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/flac/flac-1.0.3_beta-src.tar.gz?download
2. do
./configure && make && make check
This will build all code and run all the tests.

Streaming with ices2/linux
Hi,
I have observed a problem when streaming with ices2. When only silence is
transmitted, like pauses in an interview, the bitrate drops to 0. This
happens even when a minimum bitrate is set.
Now, assume there is a half block of audio ready. Now the level drops to
silence, or near silence, possibly because the person is thinking about an
answer for a while.
This will cause the partial

WinAmp3 & Icecast2 compatibility?
Hello folks
I'm having trouble playing ogg streams with WinAmp3. I run Icecast2 & Ices2
(both compiled from CVS about two weeks ago) on a Linux box, the files
being streamed were encoded with oggenc (from oggutils1.0, managed
80kbitrate...) The problem is that WinAmp3 won't actually play the .ogg
stream. When I give it the URL (http://myserver:8000/mount.ogg) it says

dropping id3 support
after spending a lot of time integrating X-Fixer's winamp2
plugin code, I am on the verge of removing id3 v1/v2 support
from the plugins completely. it is really hard to get right
in a way that works intuitively for the user, and i18n is
also a nightmare. in id3v2 every field can have a different
encoding.

getting framesize in client
I have few notes:
It seems there is changed API in CVS again. So, what about adding
function like
unsigned FLAC__format_frame_size(const FLAC__Frame *frame)
which returns size of the frame in bytes. This can be useful, for
example, in xmms plugin to display current bitrate like vorbis plugin
does.
If 'PERFORMER' field is missing in vorbis comment, it would be nice to
display

OddcastDSP/Winamp2
Sorry for the long rave.
I write Windows software for broadcasters (Radio & Internet) and in a

Vorbis/IceCast2 as the streaming solution for the future. All of my
clients are using Windows and a lot of them are using Winamp2 for their
broadcasting. Currently they would be forced to use the OddCastDSP.

Ices2 and Jack
>From what I have read on some mailing lists, there is a jack module for ices2
that works quite well. Why isn't this information on the ices2 web page or
documentation? Ices is useless to me without this, yet so awesome with it. I
saw requests from people for you to do this over a month ago. What's the
problem?
Thanks,
Daniel
