New Forum
How do people feel about eliminating the list serv in favor of the forum? Or limiting the list serv to news? I have one vendor I work with that has a knowledgebase, a forum, and two mailing lists - with much overlap of topics. It is truly enough to drive you totally crazy. I'm not suggesting anything. Just bringing it up. Geoff

Sizing an Ice Cast Server
Is there some info somewhere about calculating the throughput of an Icecast server? (I'm not really talking about the bandwidth) I need to figure out how much CPU and RAM I need. I also need to know whether other software on the server (such as mySQL ) will have a problem with Icecast. Geoff

DID Provider
I am using DIDx.net as my DID provider but they don't seem to get their act together. A lot of times the phone numbers don't work. How can provide my own DID, my asterisk server is being hosted at a Data center and has a reliable vendor that does my termination and do SIP to SIP and have no T1 channels. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Stumped on LD questions......
OK.. I'm up to my eyes in LD BS! I can't for the life of me understand how any carrier, either VoIP or traditional service provider can make heads or tails of how to hand off an * based call to an LD provider. Every provider I talk to, says I have to have a traditional T1 put in to their respective networks. I don't want to do this. I want a LD provider that can take a IP, SIP, IAX

Moving from Splus to R - advice/opinions request from a management perspective
Hi, I've looked through the archives and seen several posts discussing technical differences between R and S(plus). It appears to me that R can likely functionally replace Splus for my situation, but I'm more interested in looking at the risks and benefits of moving from Splus to R from a (project) management point of view. Background (a bit wordy, I'm afraid): -

R on amazon's EC2 "cloud"?
Hi All, I was wondering if anybody had experience running R on amazon's ec2 "cloud"? More specifically, has anybody created an "amazon machine image" (AMI) for use with it? I was wondering if there was a quantian type image available as an amazon machine image, maybe running debian or ubuntu? It supports open MPI among other libs which is nice. It would be nice to put

initialize a factor vector
What is the least surprising way of initializing a factor with predefined levels and with length 0? as.factor(c("eins", "zwei", "drei"))[FALSE] does the job but looks a bit weird. -- Johannes H?sing There is something fascinating about science. PC configuration you are using
Hello, As I mentioned in the previous message we are developing solution for wholesale companies to analyze their sales transactions by associative rules. I would very much appreciated if the community could give us some hint of what is a typical PC configuration of a professional statist (processor, RAM, HDD...)? Thanks a lot in advance and I highly appreciate your feedback! Kind regards,

SIP Termination with automatic debit
Can anyone recommend any wholesale SIP termination providers that will automatically charge a credit card? Most seem to want upfront payment and a credit balance but that sucks when you have to watch it like a hawk to make sure the balance never hits zero. I'm looking for a provider that can automatically charge a credit card. Douglas. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML

I'd probably just want to copy a working version of /etc/dovecot/ conf files instead of modifying my existing files with sed scripts (or create new ones with cat). new options are left unaltered.
