relay icecast to shoutcast
thanks geoff - Yes, I had disabled the <alias source="/"
dest="/status.xsl"/> in the config.
To answer your question: If the mountpoint is set to "radio.mp3" and the
host tag is set for a local broadcast. ie.:
<hostname>localhost</hostname> (for testing purposes), this is what
happens when I enter "http://localhost:7000/" into a browser:

Push relay from nicecast with icecast2?
Darrel,
Thanks for the help. I'm presuming then that I've misunderstood what is
meant by "pull" vs. "push".
I understood, I guess erroneously, that the context of 'push' relaying
was from the perspective of the icecast2 receiving a 'pushed' stream. I
believe now that I have this backwards, and that the context is from
the part of icecast2 not being

icecast & china
hello list
I'm preparing to do a sound project in china where I hope to broadcast
an mp3 stream using Icecast2. I've set up test system (outside China)
and it seems to be working happily (using Pd to generate audio and the
extension "shoutcast~" to stream to the icecast server).
I've asked a few people in china to tune into these broadcasts and have
run into problems.

Tried with http://zhongshuobeijing.dyndns.org:7000/streamname.m3u
but was blocked. And at last resolve:
http://139.168.32.224:7000/streamname.m3u
is that what you mean? no, perhaps you mean the localhost? "bicho" is
its name. Pardon me if i'm confused on this.
Will also, tomorrow, try your suggestion of port 443 and Ross'
suggestion of the web port.
cheers, iain

load constraints
hello
Another beginners question..... I've been googling through the icecast
archives looking for information on how icecast handles multiple
clients. Haven't been able to find what I'm looking for.
Could someone please explain (or direct me to links) what happens to the
upload bandwidth of a box running icecast, when more than one client
connects? For example, if a box on a 128kbps

Hi, thanks for the quick answer. We are serving the mp3s with .nsv endings
since that is what the oddcast plugin seems to send by default when mp3 is

relay icecast to shoutcast
that's seems a shame. I'm aware of what dns is - and I was prepared for
periodic drops in transmission. My dynamic dns name is updated (when
necessary) every 10 minutes. For a variety of reasons i'm reluctant to
use a static ip for this project - but if it can't be done....

relay icecast to shoutcast
Hi,
The problem you're going to have here is that it takes time for DNS changes
to propagate through the Internet, so it may take some time for the DNS
server nearest the shoutcast server to find out what your new address is
when it changes.

All stream types returned to the Stream Directory
After a bit of debate, it has been decided that all stream types should be
allowed to list on our stream directory. We have corrected the load issue
and have to come to agreement that it is in the best interest of everyone
to support all the broadcasters in the community, regardless of their
choices of streaming media type.
We encourage all that are currently broadcasting in patent and license

figured it out! I have a dynamically allocated IP address - and i was
entering a dynamic DNS name in the shoutcast server config expecting it
to be resolved. It wasn't. I entered the IP address just then and it
relays perfectly! Will follow up with the shoutcast service support to
see why my dynamic name isn't being resolved (perhaps it can't be with
shoutcast?).

relay icecast to shoutcast
Hello List
Having great trouble relaying an icecast2 mp3 stream to a shoutcast server.
My client program successfully streams to icecast which is listening on
port 7000. I can listen to this stream with mozilla and xmms with no
problems. I can also stream my client directly to the shoutcast server but
it makes the client unstable (which is why i'm attempting a relay).
The shoutcast server is

Best way to handle multiple (6+) streams
I have a need to stream 6 or 8 different audio sources (radios), and am
seeking suggestions on the best way to do it. Although I'd like to stream
each separately, I could combine them to stereo streams and do 2 on each.
I'd like to know what the best hardware configuration would be to accomplish
this? Are there any multiple input sound cards that have been successfully
tested, or

volume control and setting volume on transfer
Hello,
I've been trying to resolve a volume issue. I have an analogue SIP phone
that has low gain on its microphone. This can be resolved by putting the
following in its extension config:
Set(VOLUME(TX)=4);
The problem is that the caller to this extension will be making attended
transfers and the change in channel volume distorts the voice prompt
"transfer" and the subsequent

Push relay from nicecast with icecast2?
Greetings,
I have some confusion. I've seen it mentioned, somewhere in some docs,
that Icecast2 does not (as yet) support Push relaying. Is this actually
the case? Should I be looking at icecast1 (which does support push
relay, I believe) until such capability is implemented on icecast2? Or
should I be creating a combination of both? Or what?
Here's my situation:
I have a customer

Using alias to relay Icecast2 to shoutcast problems
Hi all
I wondered if anyone was succesful in doing this? I found some information on using alias's to patch a stream through to a different port ie:
<alias port="8002" source="/" dest="/nfa2.m3u"/>
However this does not appear to work properly. If I type the url into a browser, this then opens up and plays as it should in winamp, however if I type it
