redirect a defunct sc stream to icecast stream
Karl, Have you got any ideas on some specific techniques to contain the details I want? I created an html file with a meta refresh to the m3u url, and this new listen.pls file actually works from IE, firing up a media player and loading the m3u playlist/stream. But it does not work from Netscape or Firefox. They send the listen.pls web page to my media player. Most of these redirect links

dueling audio
Hello, I joined last week and received great help immediately. I am enjoying this informative and genteel list. Anyway, here's an interesting one: I am streaming with Icecast using a radio into line-in. It works fine, and the stream sounds great. However, I have been doing this for four years, and I often would like to listen to audio from the internet without the line-in sound in the

the dummy playlist... chaining a clip to a stream.
Hello. I have a question. We run a number of public service audio streams. They are picking up in popularity, and it would be nice to take some credit for the bandwidth we are supplying. Lots of people directly linking to us. So I would like to attempt to do something that I've seen done with WMA streams. I would like it so when a listener connects, it plays back a 20 second audio clip

Ezstream Program Call Patch
Alrighty, Got it patched and working (at least in my one setup). You can pull the patch from: http://denetron.com/~dballenger/ezstream-program.patch (I can post the pre-patched source too if people would like) You'll have to add a "<filetype></filetype>" line into your config files, just put "file" if you want it to work just by reading that file or playlist.

No sound on any stream.
I figured out half the issue. Icecast appears to be transmitting on port 8000 just fine. The more I dig, the more I realize icecast is fine. Browser vlc seems to be broke. Direct connect via VLC standalone to -> http://66.228.49.182:8000/66.228.49.182.ogg.m3u works perfect. http://tinypic.com/r/2yl1qhc/6 I break there. Thank you! Stream File Type?
I'm a newbie. I've just installed Icecast2 and am streaming to it successfully via Nicecast (great app BTW). My problem is that the stream from Icecast2 comes through as an .m3u which does not correctly open on any of the Mac or Windows machines that I've tried. When broadcasting directly from Nicecast the file type is a .pls which both iTunes and WMP seem to deal with just fine

It _is_ streaming, you just aren't accessing it right. You can't just point your browser to a stream. The browser will always download the content, and then pass it off to the helper application. Ezstream
Greetings, I'm currently working on a program which utilizes Ezstream and Icecast2 (http://r404.sf.net). This project operates off a binary file generating the next file to be played, eztream had the funcalitiy required (mp3 -> ogg support on the fly) and seemed simple enough so I'm writing the modifications to ezstream to support getting the path off of a binary. My question, who

correct way to link stream on a web page?
What is the correct way to put a link to an mp3 and ogg stream? I'm having a dickens of a time getting anything to work right. Here are my stream urls: http://69.20.57.94:8000/live http://69.20.57.94:8000/live.ogg Cutting and pasting always works. I've been using the following link format: http://69.20.57.94:8000/live.m3u http://69.20.57.94:8000/live.ogg.m3u Both will open up the
