Hi: If you're wanting to stream in MP3 using icecast 1.x, ices 0.2.3 won't do what you want. It doesn't have soundcard input. I use darkice for this, others use liveice (which I never got to work) and one or two other solutions. If you want to use Ogg Vorbis and icecast2, ices2 will work just fine. We're running a darkice/icecast configuration to stream our LPFM radio station (and to provide a quick-n-dirty studio-transmitter-link). (See config data below.) We're getting intermittent "Buffer overrun!" errors out of darkice, and we associate these with interruptions in our audio stream that are quite noticeable.
