Calculating total observations based on combinations of variable values
Hello:
As someone making the move from STATA to R, I'm finding it difficult at times to perform basic tasks in R, so forgive me if I've missed an obvious and easily obtained solution to my problem. I've searched the help guides and the archives and have not been able to find a solution that works.
I have a data frame with thousands of observations that looks something like this:

c#/ java binding improvements
Hi,
I am a Computer Science and Engineering student at University of Moratuwa,
Sri Lanka. I went through the project proposals of Xapian at Gsoc 2014. I
found the project "c# binding improvement", very attractive for me to start
up with committing to open-source community. And then found that is is not
taken by any student. Please, some one can help me to start on this. I have

[LLVMdev] Language Construction and IDE Kit
Hi,
Is to possible to have a language construction and IDE integration kit for
LLVM so that LLVM / Clang can be used for Meta Programming and defining new
languages and DSLs.
The definition of grammar, parsing, debugging, lint checking and IDE
integration should be seamless and easy to use for a novice.

LDAP users issue
Hi Team,
I have enabled LDAP authentication with webmail client and it works
successfully. But I found an error with LDAP user's mail. Email is not
loaded when I log with an LDAP user. Login phase is successful and mail box
is the issue. I created a mail user without including LDAP and that user
works fine.
Issue comes only with LDAP users.

Prebuffering best practices
What is the best way to pick a prebuffering length for a streaming audio
application using UDP transport?
I'm using Speex in a VoIP application with RTP transport, currently with
a fixed 500ms prebuffer on the playback side. However, I'd like
something a bit more adaptive to accomodate high-jitter connections.
For example, in one test configuration there is a very low average

Issues with SFTP
Things consider problems with sftp software
- sftp manually first time to accept the fingerprint and anytime software
is updated on host.
- no ascii mode only binary
- no verbose or indication of bytes transfered (you would do an ls after
sftp is done)
- no mput or mget (this may be a show stopper) but could script could
generate itself with all the filenames takes coding.

Prebuffering best practices
Ok, this is a silly question, but what does the jitter buffer do? I'm
really new to audio, so please bear with me.
From what I gather (primarily from the list archive), the jitter buffer
is a wrapper around the Speex decoder. I give it the packets I receive,
in whatever order I receive them, and then it gives me back a clean
stream of audio samples. But what I don't entirely

R talking to Oracle, ODBC drivers available ?
[sorry, but this is a re-post - I forgot to set the subject line
the first time around]
Hello,
I would like to access an Oracle database running on Solaris from
R on my linux desktop. I have had a look at the R Data Import/Export
manual, and downloaded RODBC and unixODBC, but I am still quite confused
about how to proceed. It appears to me that I still need to get an Oracle
ODBC driver, and

Prebuffering best practices
Ah, I'm sorry, I have read the manual and believe I have a reasonably
good grasp on how to use the Speex encoder and decoder altogether. In
fact I've been using it with great success in my P2P SIP/RTP VoIP
application for almost a year now; it's been working wonderfully and I
can't thank you enough.
However, the manual makes no mention of the jitter buffer, nor does it
