Icecast on port 80 and proxy servers that stay connected after user disconnects.
Hi, Well, as long as it's only you listening, you can always kick yourself through the admin interface. But there's realy not a lot you can do. I've seen mention of and possibly patches for time-limited listening, but you don't really want to place an arbitrary limit on connect time without really wanting that feature. Personally, unless you really need to run it on port

Pre-roll playing every time user disconnects and connects

The trick here is to find a way of serving the preroll without everyone hearing it. I guess you could use some on connect logic to determine if it should be played,

Pre-roll playing every time user disconnects and connects
I was trying to see if there's a way to configure it so that someone with a weak network connection doesn't have to hear our pre-roll over and over again. icecast2 disconnects..
weird..I posted this a few days ago, but it never showed up... anyway, here it is (again) :) --------------------------------------------------- while we are talking about disconnects, I'll mention the fact that apparently when metadata song changes are done by a source (mine namely), icecast2 seems to want to disconnect each listener. I have confirmed that on metadata song changes, on

Problem with Fallbacks
Hi All, I've got a problem with fallbacks and I just cannot seem to find the answer anywhere, I've been looking for weeks. Here's the situation: Stream is working fine and listeners are happy. Then, the stream stops and the fallback takes over, great everyone is still happy. BUT....Even though the stream has come back online the fallback continues to play over and over and never

Help needed with port 80 on Fedora
I'm running Icecast 2.2.0 on RedHat Fedora core 2. It's working fine if I use the default port of 8000. I need to use port 80 because of client firewall issues. However when I try to reconfigure icecast.xml to port 80, I get "cannot create listener socket on port 80". I'm guessing it's some permissions issue in Fedora, but I'll be darned if I can find it! File Sharing
I have a network with one Linux machine and samba 2.0.7 as well as two windows 98 machines. We use one hard disk on the Linux machine to share important project files. Often we create new directories and here is the problem: The one creating the directory has full access (of course) but the other has not! I put create mode 777 but that is not done. The folder is /home/tmp but it is shared

Log analysis
Hi everyone, Ok, so I admit I'm asking this to avoid having to do my own research. but I'm also asking in the hopes of avoiding doing my own scripting. ACB Radio is looking at moving across to Icecast. There's really not a lot to stop us at this point. But we are keen to retain access to total listener hours, average listen time and amount of data served per mountpoint. I

OT - mstts.agi - Where to find API key ?
Hi, I recently discovered http://zaf.github.com/asterisk-mstts/ . In the page above, it is mentioned you have to subscribe to Microsoft Translator API on Azure Marketplace. In Azure Marketplace, I found something called "Microsoft Translator". This API is free within a 2 000 000 characters per onth limit. Is this the API needed for MS TTS ? If not, where and how can I find the good

Re [ogg]
Hi: If you're just wanting to serve static files then the fileserve function of icecast will probably serve you better. But yes, you would have to make a thousand files. Probably better to write some kind of script to push a .m3u or .pls file generated from the filename passed as a parameter. At least then you wouldn't have lots of tiny m3u files all over the place.
