Ices 0.x is still developed. So is ices2. They're independent codebases with substantially different capabilities and users. Yes, in retrospect naming it ices2 was a poor

file only storing with ices 2 ?
Hi ! my question is how to totally switch off the Ices2 logging into the Icecast server ? I wan't to use ices only to save archives (24h/d), without any streaming, but when I try start Ices, see: [2005-01-19 17:27:05] EROR stream/ices_instance_stream Failed initial connect to localhost:8000 (Couldn't connect: Connection refused) and Ices clears buffers etc. and shuts itself down :-(

IceCast and ICES
I?ve successfully implemented IceCast on a Raspberry Pi and can access the stream ONLY if I use an ffmpeg statement to start the stream. Unfortunately, the stream is choppy and the sound quality is poor. I?ve tried using ICES, but I don?t get any sound. Terminal command that works: ffmpeg -ac 2 -f alsa -i hw:0,0 -acodec mp3 -ab 48k -ac 2 -content_type audio/mpeg -f mp3 icecast://source:password

ices 0.4 can't find playlists...
Hello, I've compiled and successfully run icecast2 with ices on a single stream. But I'm running into problems running multiple streams from ices to icecast... I used the <playlist>...</playlist> syntax to run a single stream, but the docs on icecast.org seem to suggest using the <input>...</input> syntax instead. I've actually tried it both ways, with

That is why I asked for a protocol :) Why we have to go the extra mile of parsing the XML, that will contain plenty of info we don't need !! Anyway, thank you for the tips. Multiple mount points without dynamic reencoding
Hello: I am running the icecast2.3.2 server and ices0.4 with a perl script which provides the filename of the next track to play. I am reencoding in advance using ffmpeg, which has been very reliable. My main stream is mp3, 64kbps / 44.1 kHz (mono) and I have pre-reencoded the tracks to 32kbps / 22.05 kHz (mono), for a lower data rate stream. At this time, I have not figured out how to get a

I don't mind using the password. Just I am asking if there is some sort of protocol to retrieve the information without playing with the xsl !! I mean, to directly retrieve the wanted information, like ME: Get MetaData Server: Celin Dion - All comes back to me. two problems with flac and ices 0.4 build
i'm trying to build ices0.4 and vorbis-tools 1.0.1 with flac 1.1.1. Neither seems happy, hence the crossposting (sorry). ICES0.4 --- ices refuses to see the libFLAC library, even if i specify --with-flac=/usr/local/lib (or even just --with-flac=/usr/local/, as the configure script seems to look in the lib and include subdirectories of the specified path?). i get a configure error:

RE: Two questions
I am happy using icecast/ices, but have two questions: 1. If I was using cron to schedule a switching of a playlist, can I do this without restarting icecast so that at a SPECIFIC TIME (let's say at exactly 3:00 pm) a new song can be played without interupting the user listening to the broadcast. 2. Is there a setting when the user first connects to play a *welcome* file (i.e. about the

Server drops client - problem with IceS?
Hi there, I just joined the list and have a question on one of the earlier posts: On Oct 28 2003, Ricardo wrote that his server diconnected his clients. I have the exact same problem - and a bit of testing/analysis. <p>I am running an Icecast server and IceS on the same linux box. IceS is encoding a live stream from my sound card. After a while of listening (approx 2 mins) from another

OSS/Linux and Ices
Hi, I've had a series of problems in the past getting ices to work properly which I think might now have some relation to the OSS/Linux drivers I'm using. Does anyone know if you need to change a setting or take an extra step to get Ices2 to work when using the commercial OSS drivers as opposed to any of they other available methods. The reason I suspect this is that I've found only
