Ices0 and ShoutCast (and KiSS)
I have successfully set up a system with Ices0.4 and IceCast2.20 (and Tunez). It plays well using mpg123 or WinAmp. But I would like to use also my KiSS DVD player for the stream, and I have not been able to do so - It appearently needs 110% SHOUTcast compatibility. So I tried the IceCast2.3.1 - but it still didn't like the KiSS (or the other way around). In stead, I have added a SHOUTcast

Relaying between icecast 2.3 servers
Hello! I just searched the list, but i can't find a solution. I have 2 icecast 2.3 server. One should be the master, the other one should become a slave, to be able to distribute the load. But the slave server does not learn any mountpoints. The main problem seem to be, that the the URL http://streamingserver:8000/admin/streamlist.txt just returns a empty

looking for better graphical download manager for X / KDE / Gnome
Hi all, I currently use kget to download files, but find it lacks a lot of features, like bandwidth throttling, auto-resume when internet disconnects & reconnects, download from multiple locations, browser integration, etc. FreeDownloadManager for Windows does all of the above quite well, but I don't use Windows @ home. So, does anyone know of a good alternative to use? I have searched

SAMBA Kerberos misunderstanding
I suspect I might be grossly misunderstanding kerberos and AD here, but I cant seem to grok the following. net ads join integrates my linux samba server (named foundry) into an AD domain and all works fine. The samba server is using the kerberos keytab. root@foundry:~ # kinit -k -t /etc/krb5.keytab foundry$ root@foundry:~ # kinit -k -t /etc/krb5.keytab host/foundry.example.local kinit(v5):

should there be a constant GET /admin/streamlist on a relay main server ?? this may be my problem ; what would cause this to stop updating ? but still remain running .. -- access.log on main server ( not relay ) 130.63.239.188 - - [03/Apr/2003:21:14:48 -0500] "GET /admin/streamlist HTTP/1.0" 200 46 "-" "-" 0 130.63.239.188 - - [03/Apr/2003:21:16:48 -0500] "GET

Use of TCP_CORK instead of TCP_NODELAY
We're abusing icecast in a true narrowcasting setup (personalized stream per mountpoint). The streams itself are created in a piece of proprietory (spelling?, i'm dutch) software, icecast merely relays them. However, the intended endpoint is an embedded device. This device has trouble with tcp/ip packets not matching the max. packet size (MSS or MSS minus header). After eleborate testing,

No Duplicate Users - Patch
I'd like to commit the following patch which adds a new option to the htpasswd client authenticator. This option <option name="allow_duplicate_users"> specifies wether or not the same username can connect to a mountpoint more than once. This is pretty much a required feature for any decent use of the listener authentication capabilities of icecast. thoughts ? comments ?

Unofficial Icecast HOWTO posted
It should. I just tried it out my own instructions after letting them go a few days. I didn't want them fresh in my mind. I simply copied the configs and played dumb (not too hard). I then started up my playlist server and am listening to it right now. I tested out the streaming stuff a few days ago with good results. Hope it works out as well for you all. Find anything wrong, let me know and

Icecast2 and Ices2 and Authentication Probs.
Can anybody help me, I have Icecast2 and Ices2 on Mandrake and want to play a static playlist. Relay authentication on kh-57
Is something broken here? I'm trying to do a test of relaying between two servers running kh-57. mountpoint fallback support
I just was looking at the CVS nightly build of the icecast2\src\source.c and see that the mountpoint fallback is now implemented (compared to the 2.0.0 release's source.c) I was hoping to use this feature to support a multi-home radio station that has a master mountpoint stream and offsite "guest" mountpoints. These guest mountpoints would attach on a scheduled based and,

mountpoint fallback support
After I installed the latest nightly build, it looks like the fallback works without rebuffering. I do see one problem -- when the main mountpoint stream restarts, the fallback continues to play. Once I stop the fallback mountpoint stream, the main mountpoint stream restarts, but only after client rebuffering Also, during the mountpoint switchovers, sometimes the meta-data is lost in the

Looking for a better way to build
I have been following the wiki on how to build a custom kernel, and it works great. Except, I am doing ongoing work with the internals of the kernel, and it is really awkward to set up a change and then build it using the standard methodology (edit the file to change, diff it against the original to make a patch file, rebuild the whole thing). Isn't there a way (and what is it) to play

switch a source, idea?
hi there, let's say I have a mountpoint /important with a source a, and a mountpoint /notimportant with source b now I have to switch source a and b so that the content of source b plays on mountpoint /important mountpoint /notimportant is, well, not so important of course I can do it manually, but I wonder if there is a trick to accomplish that programmatically or within icecast. ideas
