Hello- You guys have done an excellent job with the Icecast2 server. I probably don't need to tell you that, but I did anyway. We are Coding Technologies licensees and have recently developed a streaming audio encoder supporting AAC/HE-AAC/aacPlus using RTSP/RTP, SHOUTcast HTTP/ICY, and Icecast2 HTTP/ICY, Orban Opticodec-PC. A FREE AAC/aacPlus Plugin for Microsoft Windows Media Player that fully supports the Icecast2 Server is available for download here: http://www.orban.com/plugin FYI: This plugin supports .asx for Windows Media Player NOT .pls or .m3u. Great news, but I can't get it to work. Installed the plugin and typed a URL directly into File > Open URL, but it sit's there connecting permanently. I'm using Windows XP SP2, WMP 10. Mike- There are some differences in the way the metadata is handled between SHOUTcast and Icecast2. This, I believe is the primary reason why player developers get SHOUTcast streams to play but not necessarily Icecast2. VLC and BetaPlayer are perfect examples of this. Can anyone explain what the fundamental difference between the Burst-on-Connect mode that Icecast2 uses versus SHOUTcast? There is a thread starting on the VLC Player list that is stating that the problems that VLC has playing Icecast2 Burst-on-Connect (default) streams is the fault of Icecast2.
