ices0, lame, and m4a
Ok, I don't know what I'm doing wrong here, so I
signed up to the mailing list. Here's the situation:
I have an extensive music collection and have just
purchased an iPod. I already have ripped a few of my
CDs (about 4Gb worth) in an mp3 format (previously had
an mp3 CD player), but I'm not planning to rip the
rest of my CD collection in an mp3 format. At the
moment, I'm

Making the video plugin + patched MPlayer work with other backends
Hi,
I'm wondering how I can make my patched up mplayer work with other
MPlayer frontends, such as mplayer-plugin, GMPlayer, SMPlayer and
KMPlayer. When I play a video using mplayer normally with:
mplayer video.ext,
It detects the compiz video output and works fine, however when it is
called from other players (AFAIK, it just creates a window then asks
mplayer to display in it) with mplayer

For the laptop, you didn't mention a model or platform. I have
vague awareness of some x86 hardware in that there

ffmpeg2theora bugs ?
Hi,
we are using ffmpeg2theora as encoder for a new
project.
We are finding problems during the conversion step
with different type of input compression but, for now,
in AVI container.
In many case an error generated by ffmpeg lib produce
a stop in theora lib (we suppose)
Here an example:
D:\tmp\ffmpeg>ffmpeg -i f:\vi1.avi vo1.avi

Ok I figured it out. I didn't know it was possible for ices to use a XML
config. When I changed the ices configuration and used HTTP as
authentication protocol it worked like a charm.

ices0 config for high and low bandwidth users
Hello,
Does anyone have a config for the above? I've got several static
playlists of mp3's that i'd like to offer. Offering them for high bandwidth
cable dsl users works fine, but i'd like to give them out to dialups as
well. Currently whenever a dialup user connects the stream1 plays for about
two seconds then goes sluggish. I'm theorizing that i'm giving to much for

Perl module and ices0
Hi,
Can anyone give me some advice about how to go about creating a
perl-driven playlist for ices0? I'd be grateful.
I don't know what creating a Perl "module" entails, to be honest. I've
written a .pl script which does the necessary functions and returns
the path to the next MP3 file; is it enough just to reference this
script by name in the <Module></Module>

Ices0 v. 0.4 Skip Song
Hello all
Ive just discover that ices0 can encode {.ogg,.flac,.mp3} to mp3 streams!..
greate!
the script thing is wonderfull. in my script i have defined
ices_init
ices_shutdown
ices_get_next
all works greate.
Now, i want be able users to skip the song that is been streamd.
for that,
kill -s SIGUSR1 IcesPid
works greate
but.. for the songs i have setup a ranking field in a sql database.

ices0 and ices2 on /dev/dsp?
Simple newbie question (if I had the necessary hardware, I'd just try it).
Can I run both ices0 and ices2 simultaneously, point them at the same source
(/dev/dsp) and then use icecast to broadcast both ogg vorbis and MP3 streams?

How to tell Ices0 reloading the playlist?
Hi all!
How can I tell ices0 to refersh/reload the playlist? I thought it would
be done automaticaly, but now if I changed the playlist, Ices didn't see
this. Played funny the old one again and again. Is it possible to get
ices a kick to reload the playlist?

error after sending SIGHUP to Ices0
Hi all,
after sending SIGHUP to Ices0, Ices0 reloads the playlist correctly.
Indeed Ices0 plays the new playlist, but starts not at position one as
expected. Ices0 starts at the last position played on the old playlist +
1.
What have I missed?
Many thanks in advance.

Ices0 and ShoutCast (and KiSS)
THAT was it!
Both ones work, so I think I'll stick to the last one.
Now the KiSS will connect to the IceCast2, and I have enabled the metadata
again without problem.
Thank you very much!

This is not the case here. After SIGHUP, even after the currently
played song finishes, the old playlist is used.

ices0 systemd package?
Not sure what the ices0 development plans are regarding Fedora systemd
support. A basic start may be as listed below. Just note that after
install, depending on the instance of ices0 being started, use
'systemctl start ices0 at 0.service'. See the installed unit service file
ices0 at .service for additional information.
