Shout: "couldn't connect"
I am running Icecast 1.3.12-debian, with libshout 2.0 and Shout 2.0.1. When I
run example.pl in the Shout build directory directory, I get the error
"couldn't connect..." I'm not sure where to look to unravel this error. Icecast
is working fine and streaming static files smoothly.

new utility - ezstream
Just wanted to let everyone know that I've released a new streaming utility
called (appropriately enough) ezstream.
ezstream will read in mp3/vorbis files and send them (without reencoding)
to an icecast2 server. It can also take in input from stdin. We used to
have a utility like this (called shout) but shout had horrible timing
issues and didn't work well at all. This version

python-shout 0.2.1 with icecast 2.4.0 segfaults
Hi there,
that really seems to be the issue here. I've quickly created a new sdist
package for python-shout and installed it with the diff applied into my
virtual environment and the broadcasting seems to work just fine again.
So I can confirm this to solve the issue. Hopefully they accept Bug Fixes
fast so everyone could profit from this.
Thanks

Scripted playlists with shout?
Hi,
Another basic question (the list archive search doesn't seem to be
working).
Is it possible to do scripted playlists with shout? I want to allow the
people at my site to upload new mp3 files to the server and have them placed
in the playlist automatically. I tried generating the playlist (file) with
crontab, but it seems shout only reads the playlist once, at startup.

python-shout 0.2.1 with icecast 2.4.0 segfaults
Hi there,
I am trying to use python-shout 0.2.1 to broadcast to a icecast 2.4.0
server, which result in a segmentation fault and I can't understand why. Is
anyone else experiencing this problem?
Here is the config that I use with icecast 2.4.0.

Shout???
Hello,
Sorry but in the mails I have read I did not see any "shout" program
comments. I have configured icecast and I am using "shout" to encode MP3s.
Is the performance of shout bad or others are better then "shout"?
I did not encounter any problems yet.
Thank you for any comment.

winamp shout
i am using icecast v1.3.11
my friend streams music to my server with the shout plugin for winamp.
there are a couple of problems.
1. icecast doesn't seem to recognize when a client disconnects. i enabled the shoutcast and icecast directory servers, and they were both saying that i had around 400 listeners last night, when in fact i only had 8. the only lines in the icecast configuration

icecast2, libshout2, Shout.pm FreeBSD
Hi all,
Has anyone successfully managed to get icecast2 libshout2
and Shout.pm built under freebsd?
o far I've been able to build all of them except for
Shout.pm. I would like to migrate from icecast1 however
I can't do so until I can get everything built.
Here is the error I'm having trying to build Shout.pm
from the FreeBSD ports tree.

shout python
Hi,
I discovered shout-python.
I use it to straem theora to an icecast server.
But works quite right except some times, it hangs, with no reasons.
I built it against libshout 2.2
The server i an IceCast 2.3.1
I have some notes:
The stream type, in the example could be vorbis | mp3.
Wouldn't it be the time to change it to ogg | mp3? As well as theora can
be in a ogg.
Is there any known

A mountpiont is a fragment of a URL (often referred to as a URI) like
'/stream1' or '/my_cool_stuff/stream.ogg'
You tell shout, ices, or whatever what mountpoint to use.

Didn't someone do this and post it to icecast-dev? Or was that something
else? I'm not a perl programmer. I'd just hate to see someone duplicate

Debian Woody Icecast & Shout Bad Password Error
I installed both icecast-server & icecast-client from stable Debian dist.
My icecast.conf looks to be correct, but when I run the shout client, I get
the following error:
Server error: [ Error - Bad password ]
I've tried to insert the password into the command line, but it doesn't
change anything.
