Another relay question...
I currently have 3 mountpoints, 128, 56 and 24. I'm using darkice as
the source and I'm relaying to another server running icecast2. I'm
assuming that darkice is using lame for transcoding the bit-rates on
the fly and sending 128k/s + 56k/s + 24k/s to the relay host... which
is using a lot of bandwidth on the source network (which I don't have
much to spare). Is there any

You did not type the exact string I told you to first of all. You forgot to use the 's after
before the h in http and at the end.
curl --user admin:hackme 'http://192.168.0.1:8000/admin/metadata?mount=/live&mode=updinfo&song=Artist_name+Title'
notice the useage of the 's in my string and not in yours. Your string is launching
nonsense into the background via the two

Let this be a note for everyonein the future then. When using mp3s i don't think
there is a --enable-mp3-updates (I think it worked by default for me), yet if using ogg
vorbis you must compile icecast2 with --enable-vorbis-updates in order to update the
song/title id3 metadeta (Instructions on how to do so with `curl' are below). If I was
using ogg I may have been of more use, yet I

Run this from command line:
curl --user admin:hackme 'http://192.168.0.1:8000/admin/metadata?mount=/live&mode=updinfo&song=Artist_name+Title'
That should set you all up, just change IP, Port and MountPoint.

Questions and problems about relaying
Hiya,
1> Master/slave relay should work for you.. something i found in the
version i am using you have to define the mount name in the master
config file for it to be relayed to the slaves relays. The current
relesed version supose to resolve this issue, I still trying to
compile it on my linux systems to test it out.

Questions and problems about relaying
Hi guys , I have some strange problems using Icecast2 Rlay.
I'm using two icecast2 server , 1 in a office and 1 in another office.
Every office connection have static Ip and the 8000 port fordwarded to
the icecast private Ip by every router.
Reading the documentation

I have tryed the two type of realy:

http://www.radiototal.ro/live/radio-total-128kbps.m3u?
If I can, can you please give an example how to do it?
I tryed this:

<server>www.radiototal.ro</server>
<port>80</port>
<mount>/live/radio-total-128kbps</mount>

Different bitrates and switching between live/playlist mode
Hi all,
I have successfully running an icecast2 server in combination with ices 0.3
and i am streaming with ices a mp3-playlist to two different mountponts at
the icecast server, both the same playlist but ices re-encodes the playlist
in 2 different bitrates (low-quality and high quality) and sends it to the
mountpoints /low and /high
now if i am doing a livemix i connect as a third source to

icecast1 documentation
Hi Geoff,
I'm a bit confused...
After reading the docs, I was under the impression that icecast2 does
not do on demand relaying?
I did a google search, found this (well, it's a year ago)
http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/icecast/2004-February/006555.html
Also, in the relaying section of the icecast documentation:

i have two linux b0x's .

:: second machine at the studio , running icecast2
the studio machine receives dialup/hispeed.ogg streams locally from ices2

if there isn't a live show , the website offers the correct archive for
re-broadcast , this is played through the fileserver on main

Problems with Ices
Karl,
I installed icecast/ices from the latest stable ebuild on gentoo
portage. It appears from the log file that ices is only version 2.0.0
even though the ebuild is version 2.1.0. I just reinstalled icecast with
the newest (unstable) ebuild and it still doesn't seem to have version
2.0.1 of ices. Do you recommend that I manually compile or that I find a
way to use a wrapper for ALSA to

relay backup file
Hi,
I have install 2 Icecast servers.
We not using master relay. But we use specific mountrelay for fallback:
server1 - pc1 encoder over dsl
server2 - pc2 encoder over cable internet
We use the same mountpoints on both icecast servers and use the failback
to a relay mountpoint from the other server.
Works fine when we shutdown pc1 or pc2 there is on both icecast server
music.

No. Without re-encoding, resource usage is very very low.

One stream should have a mountpoint of /stream1 or something, and the
other of /stream2.
Then you access a stream like so:
http://my.server.com:8000/stream1
or
http://my.server.com:8000/stream2
then in the other icecast server, you just:
relay pull http://my.server.com:8000/stream1
relay pull http://my.server.com:8000/stream2
that should work.

relay icecast to shoutcast
Hello List
Having great trouble relaying an icecast2 mp3 stream to a shoutcast server.
My client program successfully streams to icecast which is listening on
port 7000. I can listen to this stream with mozilla and xmms with no
problems. I can also stream my client directly to the shoutcast server but
it makes the client unstable (which is why i'm attempting a relay).
The shoutcast server is
