Icecast/ices problem
Thanks for the suggestion. It turns out that debug for ices told me
nothing but debug for icecast 2.2.0 showed that it was terminating the
source at the same place in the playlist, apparently due to a lack of
trailing metadata in one particular file -- icecast saw it as end of
stream.
After checking code updates on the TRAC system, I installed the kh branch
of icecast (kh13) and this seems

Ices2 and Jack
>From what I have read on some mailing lists, there is a jack module for ices2
that works quite well. Why isn't this information on the ices2 web page or
documentation? Ices is useless to me without this, yet so awesome with it. I
saw requests from people for you to do this over a month ago. What's the
problem?
Thanks,
Daniel

hello,
I just downloaded libshout from http://svn.xiph.org/icecast/branches/kh/ices

Your existing icecast.xml configuration file should have the same

The latest is in SVN under http://svn.xiph.org/icecast/branches/kh and
tarballs are available in http://mediacast1.com/~karl. You will need
the libshout which is available there as well, I haven't fully tested

Can't compile ices kh static
Hello,
I have oen trouble to compile ices kh 57 as a static executable.
I built ogg, vorbis, libhshout with enable-static.
ld.so.conf is up to date to find shared libs.
When I compile ices non static, everything is ok.
But when I add
export LDFLAGS="-static"
before calling configure for ices, then I get this error message:
configure: error: Need libshout-kh release
I'm using only

ices-kh dropping jack ports unexpectedly
I've been having a problem where ices-kh (the jack'ified version)
disconnects from its jack input source unexpectedly. This happens mainly
while other jack clients are being started/stopped, or
connected/disconnected, but also at other times (e.g. switching between
different X sessions). I'm planning to do a bit more work on tuning up the
jack setup to see if I can get rid of the

ices stops connecting to server after 24hours
G'day Karl,
I've been using your multiple instance version ices-2.0-kh43 for live
streaming from my soundcard.
After about 24 hours, connection to my icecast server is lost - checking
my netstat I see that the connection is in "CLOSE_WAIT" status - this seems to
stop it from being able to reconnect. Here is some sample ices.log
output:

ices & savefile
Apologies for asking so many questions - hope this isn't in the FAQ
somewhere!?
I would like to use the <savefile> option in ices but am wondering how to
specify a unique filename to be created each time ices is executed so the
previous savefile is not overwritten?
eg, is there a way to specify:
<savefile>mystream-%time-%date.ogg</savefile>
that would for example create a

Is something wrong with ices 2.0-kh60a?
Hiya Karl (and everybody else),
I noticed today that ices 2.0-kh60a came out last January, and opted to
give it a try. Unfortunately, it just wouldn't work at all, so I had to
back down to 2.0-kh60.
What I get in my log is this:
[2006-04-21 21:16:18] DBUG om_shout/check_shout_connected Time we started stream on ice.imars.net:8000/cigr.ogg

Questions
Hi:
I've read that there is experimental speex and theora support in a
development branch of icecast somewhere. Speex would be ideal for this
kind of thing.
Geoff.

ices & savefile
Thanks Karl, I will give it a try.
Do I have to install your modified libshout or isn't it required if I am
live streaming?
Cheers,
