New YP listing code in icecast2
I have just committed this code to CVS, and here is more information about
it for those interested :
- the spec that I went off of for the protocol can be found here ->
http://www.oddsock.org/icecast2yp/spec.html
- since icecast2 now needs to potentially connect out to yp servers for
communication, libcurl has been added as a dependency...I used curl 7.9.8...
- I also have currently

icecast 1.3 or 2 ??? (plus YP stuff)
The mp3 streaming is actually pretty good in icecast2, even the metadata
enhancements..I've done quite a bit of testing with it, and it's passed all
my tests..although my tests were not completely thorough, and additional
testing should be done on laggy networks and with large number of
users...it at least passes the "good network and small number of users
tests"...

Clustering on the YP
In case anyone is interested, the YP I run now supports clustering of
servers. The clustering is based off "Server Name" + "Listing
IP"....currently, clustering of relays from multiple machines are not
supported (unless they appear to be coming from the same IP)...This means
if you are running multiple mountpoints on the same server, and your server
name is the same for

Icecast2 log and yp behaviour
Some of you may have seen my post to the vorbis list regarding the new
Virgin Radio streams using Ogg Vorbis, ices2 and icecast2.
Anyway, I have a couple of techy enquiries about the icecast2 server.
Firstly, I want to rotate the icecast2 logs at midnight (i.e. create a new
access.log file for each day). Normally I would expect to be able to move
the existing log file and then send a killall

Clustering on the YP
Nice work, yeah.
But wasn't there some plan already in the standard-docs to use
Servername + "cluster password" for listing a cluster of servers?
Well okay, but maybe this requires an addition to icecast2 :-)
<p>Thank you for the good work

Icecast2yp updates / testing
I've been in playing with the icecast2yp code a little, besides getting in
on one of the next meetings about it all.
I'm just looking to have a few of you out there add some of your servers to
use the in-progress one I have going here.
http://yp.systemrage.org/cgi-bin/yp-cgi
Depending on my upcoming workload, hopefully I can put in some time to beef
it up some, and possibly add some

Hello and Stream Listing
Hello Everyone!
My name is John Silvers PD/CE of Pirate Radio 100.3FM (KQLZ Los Angeles)
I wanted to introduce myself to everyone.
We are switching over from our 2072 Shoutcast streams to Ogg with the
help from Dave at Mediacast1.
It seems mp3PRO is just not catching on but the I think the ogg sounds
way better then mp3PRO and not just one player can hear the difference
plus no plug-in to push
