Refresh Ices 0.4.?
Hello! How can I refresh ices 0.4.? If the playlist has changed, I want to load it into the ices at a definied time. Ices crashes all of a sudden: EROR input-oss/oss_read Error reading from audio device: Input/output error
It was kind of working for a while but I could not hear the stream but it was running. I started messing with alsamixer and now it crashes. I see the error but I don't know how to fix it. ices-oss-xml: (alsa is the same just a different input module) <?xml version="1.0"?> <ices> <!-- run in background --> <background>0</background>

You are trying to use ices 2 with an ices version 1 config file. ices: PQueue module error
Hi All-- I'm trying to get icecast working with ices, but I'm having a problem with the PQueue module. I'm including my ices.connf file and verbose output when running in non-daemon mode below. I'm running on Fedora Core 1, and have all packages updated (via yum). I'd greatly appreciate any insights. Jim <p><?xml version="1.0"?>

Reencoding mp3pro in mp3pro or mp3 with ices

LAME does not do MP3Pro. And in fact, the stream that is reencoded will also only be a reencode of the MP3-compatible layer of the MP3Pro stream, as Ices does not know how to decode MP3Pro streams

Table of bitrates
Hi there. I noticed that the speex.org website does not appear to give a table of what bitrates you can expect when using the SPEEX codec in CBR (quality) mode. I have created a table for all modes, giving the bitrate for two cases. a) all coded frames saved consecutively in bitstream b) all coded frames saved with byte alignment You can see there is significant padding loss at some (lower)

Problems with Ices
Karl, I installed icecast/ices from the latest stable ebuild on gentoo portage. It appears from the log file that ices is only version 2.0.0 even though the ebuild is version 2.1.0. I just reinstalled icecast with the newest (unstable) ebuild and it still doesn't seem to have version 2.0.1 of ices. Do you recommend that I manually compile or that I find a way to use a wrapper for ALSA to

ices-0.4 Reencode problems
Since the mailing list archives are a bit difficult to go through at the moment, I'll go ahead and simply ask. If I fire up ices-0.4 with reencode enabled, at pretty much the end of every song I get an error: bitstream problem: resyncing... Occasionally it will also throw in a: mpg123: Can't rewind stream by NNN bits! And eventually after a dozen songs or so I'll get a rash

ices 0.4, pure quality and more...
Hello everyone, Few weeks ago I tuned icecast with 7 streams from ices. It plays static playlists, sorted by genre. I have 2 problems. First problem: pure quality when reencoding is turned on. Temporary solution was found. I added one string, to reencoding code, that points to liblame use better quality. But is this the one and right solution? Second problem: Ices (or liblame?) does not properly

Ices -> Icecast Authentication Failure
Hello, list -- Sorry for the dumb post about confirmation -- I've always wanted to run majordomo so I could see how this stuff works. Whoops! I guess replying to the email really isn't the thing to do -- even though it explicitly states it as an option... My problem, outside of list etiquette, is this: having compiled all the latest, installed, etc., ... having read all I can find
