[LLVMdev] DWARF location lists
In the version of LLVM I'm using (Apple tag 2352.1), it seems that the DWARF emitter cannot produce DWARF location lists to outline when user variables live and where. Instead it uses a crutch of DW_AT_start_scope to specify each solitary location where an assignment to a user variable does occur.
This is unsatisfactory for machines that put user variables in registers because it doesn't

Bad points in regression [Broadcast]
None of Andy's comments) are inconsistent with the point that
rlm() and lqs(), if they disagree with lm(), likely offer better
places to start than does lm(), in identifying points that should
be examined as in some sense outliers. All such methods are
to be used, not as crutches, but as sources of insight.
Incidentally, the "rlm" class inherits from "lm", and plot.lm()

Layouts: application.rhtml v. mycontroller.rhtml
I was trying to be all DRY and standardize my layouts to one file and
made an application.rhtml. There was no application.rhtml at all
before.
So I renamed all my controller layouts to .txt and then tested. I got
empty pages.
I found some issues with Login/UserEngine and application.rhtml, but
nothing that looked like this behavior. Is routing messing me up? It''s

Rails questions businesses ask during evaluation
OBJECTIVITY CRUTCH: Replace every occurance of "Rails 1.1" with "Zope
3.2" in this post before reading it.
Personally, I enjoy having lots of cool new features in each release.
But others (like my company) value improved reliability over new
features and ask a bunch of questions during software evaluations.
Examples:

IPv6 hosts allow|deny
Hi all,
Does anyone know what the status is of Hideaki Yoshifuji's IPv6 ACL patch?
He's submitted this twice now, and that was 3 months ago. Judging by the
comments made when this was submitted, it's apparently not understood how
important this is.
- if you IPv6 on your rsync server, you can not secure it with "hosts
  allow".
- if you enable IPv6 on an rsync server

The structure definitions can't change in future, so I don't think
that's a real issue after the previous patch. But I agree that we
should prefer using the kernel's

Feedback on XML metadata namespace
Hi ogg-dev list,
After discussing the [lack of] metadata standards on the
irc://irc.freenode.net/#Vorbis channel yesterday I figured I had to
contribute to this process.
Attached is a sample XML formatted metadata sheet describing a song; and
shows off other media type elements as well. How this is to be embedded in
the OGG container is not my field.
I have only spent a couple of hours

In general, it's possible. It's sane if you want to study networking,
but otherwise it's a little over the top.
Most of the time you just need three zones: untrusted, DMZ, and
trusted. Each zone has full access to a zone of lower

[RFC] I've made a huge mistake
LLVM-Dev,
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I've spent the last several months in severe denial of the problem and I just can't keep denying it to myself anymore. I've made a huge mistake. We never should have removed autoconf support.
I've come to this conclusion after a great deal of thoughtful reflection on the impact of our CMake build system over the last year.

Password Generator
Can anyone suggest any apps/scripts for bulk generating passwords from
real names (e.g. jsmith from John Smith) that would check for duplicated
in an existing smbpasswd or passwd file and append a number to the
username (e.g. jsmith1, jsmith2).

Thanks

[OT] Online music database
I'd search freshmeat/sourceforge/cpan before doing anything... there might already be a library or package for general-purpose web-grepping..
If not you can probably use a "HTML to ascii" converter (or some Perl/awk tag strip construct) which will reduce fluff in the pages. I find it easier to throw away data I know I _don't_ want first (though, if I knew regular expressions

RFC: A change in InstCombine canonical form
Ultimately everything is going to be made to not rely on the types of
pointers - that's nearly equivalent to bitcast-ignorant (the difference
being that the presence of an extra instruction (the bitcast) might trip up
some optimizations - but the presence of the /type/ information implied by
the bitcast should not trip up or be necessary for optimizations (two sides
of the same coin))

Bug Helper / Request for Feedback
I have recently released a bug tracking application called bug helper.
This application is in beta and it is free. It has a similar flow to
jira but it isn''t aimed at the enterprise market, more just for
developers who need to capture bugs from their clients and don''t want
to setup their own bug app server. I have put adsense on it to
hopefully pay for the hosting costs. I would

Removal of Non-KMS support
I did a very quick pass at removing all the non-KMS support from the
DDX. It's tested on G80 but nowhere else currently, I thought some
discussion would be a good idea rather than just ripping it out :)
The non-KMS paths are messy, and lets face it, rotting badly. IMO the
KMS code is stable enough now that we can continue without the UMS
crutch, and indeed, the KMS code supports a lot more

I have no specific reason to believe it will be a large amount of work,
but prior experience tells me changes to canonical form have a tendency
of exposing unexpected issues. To be clear, I am supportive of you
